Also, I saw the mess of the landscape the previous map was because they didn't have Creative and had to mine everything. When I went on the server while it was operational.... I almost couldn't find a way to the entrance.

Oh, jeez. Perhaps that should be part of the rules. Not digging in the ground around the Tower or building unrealistically near it. >__> Hmmm... you might need a set of more defined rules.

*Edit* I'm tempted to say we should build the major walls out of obsidian... but it is SO dark.

I was thinking about the rules and swept through the rule blurb at the beginning of this thread and some other servers rules and put together these. (NOT saying I'm an admin, just trying to be helpful.)

Here are a set of rules that are not hard to follow and should be common sense. But since the last server had issues, it is better to be safe than sorry. Please read the following rules and abide:

1. Do Not Grief.
Griefing: V. Intentionally causing discomfort in other players. Our focus is harassment & destruction of property. Destruction includes intentional damage and accidents. If you accidentally knock a hole through a wall, please put it back the way it was. If you lack the necessary materials please notify someone so that it can be repaired. (Creeper damage counts as griefing if you leave it unrepaired. If they were chasing you, it is your responsibility to fix the damage.)

Bottom line: Treat others things the way you would want yours to be treated. We want the game to be fun for everyone and the admins do not need to be spending all of their game time cleaning up after and banning jerks.
(Also, if you are being griefed please report it to an admin.)

2. Do Not Trespass.
Every player will have an apartment. These apartments should be marked with a sign outside the door stating occupants name. If the room has a name on it you should not enter unless invited or asked.

Bottom Line: If it is not your room, stay out of it. Admins reserve the right to search your rooms/chests if something goes missing.

3. Do Not Steal.
If a storage chest is in a room belonging to someone, stay out of it. There will be community chests with materials people may use if they would like to.

Bottom line: If it is not your chest or a community chest. Stay out. If it does not belong to you or given to you. Do not touch it. Very simple.

4. Do Not Alter The Tower Or The Land Around It.
The tower is built to represent the We’re Alive Tower. The Tower does not have anything we do not put into it (like a roller coaster or a giant water fountain). Therefore, you should not take the liberty of installing one. If you want to express your creative energy, please go build something epic away from The Tower.

Bottom Line: Any structural changes will be made by Admins. No one else. This will also be considered Griefing if you do it. TNT is NOT allowed to be used inside/around the tower. If you destroy The Tower with TNT you risk consequence.

5. Chat Behavior.
Profanity is tolerated, abuse or harassment is not. Do not spam unnecessarily.

I find it funny how the first rules people think of have "Do not add a water fountain" and there was a water fountain in the lobby of the last one

I'm not that surprised.

To backtrack a bit, I'm thinking maybe obsidian isn't that bad of an idea. It stands up to creeper attacks and stuff, maybe if we make the ground/ceiling layers (same thing kinda) of lighter stone and use a lot of lights it won't be so bad?

I vote stone, BUT we could make a sandwich, Stone obsidian stone? light on the inside but still with structural integrity. Might alter plans though.
Also, if we play creative what will we do about Zombie's etc. No fun if they can't kill you. Or is there a way we could swap to survival for sim battles? With spawn eggs it'll be a lot easier to create the size of Z armies we will need.
