Dawson Family
Dawson Family Overview
Role & History: The Dawsons were one of the four original founding families. During the American Revolutionary War, they worked alongside the Amsels to divert supply chains to loyalists.
Conflict & Dissolution: The Dawson family line ended during the American Civil War following a conflict with the other three families, which Oliver described as an internal "Civil War". The core of the disagreement was the Dawsons' involvement in "Indentured servitude," which Fingers bluntly calls the "slave-trade". The other families established firm rules against this practice, but the Dawsons refused to comply, leading to a bloody conflict.
The End: The conflict culminated in a formal duel against the Dawson's head of household, which he lost. Following this defeat, the Dawson branch of the family was completely dissolved "root and stem" over 150 years ago. As a result, their portrait is missing from the display of founders at Iram.
