10 - My best friend, the end

Plot

The group escapes the Atlas Silo under cover of night, with Rhonda leading them through desolate desert terrain to avoid Gloria's surveillance. During a watch shift, Puck shares an intimate moment with Anita, who expresses gratitude for leaving the Atlas and hope for a better life.

Their respite is short-lived as Gloria mounts a relentless pursuit in her buggy, her obsession with stopping the group revealing her mental unraveling. As the group nears a bridge to safety, a tense standoff ensues -- Rhonda refuses Gloria's pleas for reconciliation, forcing her buggy off the path. As the truck crosses the bridge, Gloria fires her rifle, and the gold's weight causes the truck and a section of the bridge to collapse into the ravine.

Anita, attempting to return to Puck, falls with the truck. Puck's anguish is palpable as Robbins restrains him. On the opposite side of the ravine, Rhonda confronts a guilt-stricken Gloria, who hands over her buggy keys and walks away. In the present day, Puck reflects on the toll the events took on the survivors, who returned to the Colony in silence, never speaking of the gold or their losses again. Ultimately, Alex decides to leave the gold in the ravine, rejecting greed in favor of preserving the memory of those lost.
