actually I think your both on point.
a quick death would/could/should best come from the neck wound. likely the victims bleed out before they get the chance to turn. that in and of itself is also pointing toward a fact we've all discussed. the "zoms" are still for all intents and purposes "alive" (alive in that they need bloodflow to continue, also proven by CJ's bleeding out tactics at the police station).
additionally, the whole "animal tactics" thing fits in the ol' theory wheelhouse quite well as well. to me, the behavior of the undead maintains an aspect of all colony/group behavior to be found in nature. I stand by my theory of the zoms going through a genetic evolution of sorts...capturing the best aspects of all things to make them the dominant species on the planet. in that respect, you get the attacking behavior of carnivores the hive mentality of bees, the home/nest structure of ants...etc.(in small ways, we've been told all of this within the story)
the question I wonder..and will be googling the shit out of the rest of the night is; what animal/vegtable/mineral group would hold their strongest members back til the end?
