Zombies!
Are you with me so far?
Jurassic-era Haze!
Still with me?
ZOMBIE PTERODACTYLS!.....Where'd everybody go?
Don't forget that Saul is originally from Los Angeles. As a fellow Californian I can confirm that you can grow up here and never, ever experience truly cold weather. In my case I left California when I joined the Army and suffered during every winter I was away. Kentucky and Texas were bad. Germany was brutal. I could not have handled living in Buffalo, where the "Mountain Division" that Saul was assigned to is based.
As far as the weather at The Colony, it wouldn't be significantly different from the weather in Downtown LA.

Does anyone think that Iriwin might get blowed up at some point and we will end up back in LA, where it all began? Michael goes and saves Datu and Hope. On their way back they are notified that Iriwn is getting overrun and Kimmet orders evac and detonation of Irwin. Kimmet stays behind to set off the nuke(because his daughter is dead, he has got nothing left). Michael stops at one of the checkpoints to rescue Tanya and low and behold Pegs and Kelly are there with Riley. They book it out of there with the Pelican back to LA, where the location of the sat phone call came from.
Mh. Not sure ... We have the nuke, we have plenty of Little Ones approaching ... At least it would not be too farfetched. But I am not sure if there is a real need for blasting Irwin anyway ...
About Kimmet ... Mh. Really hard to tell. I consider him being a person capable of putting a bullet into his head; but I am not so sure anymore. He is way too egoistic and wishywashy to play 'the honorable proud captain' with nuking Irwin while staying back there; more likely he would get away and ignite the big boom from the safe distance ... Still: it is hard to tell. I get no feeling for this character.

Zombie Story:
- raises the acceptance of killing humans in huge numbers,
- reveals everything bad and and even worse about human behaviour and psychology,
- is fun.
It is really hard to tell. On the Michael says he is done with Kimmet, on the another hand he feels responsable (at least to a certain degree) to the people arriving at Fort Irwin. In this situation, it depends on who is on the sat phone and if the remaining troops at Fort Irwin are able to deal with the zombies. But hell yeah, we will go back to LA, that is for sure.
However, if Kimmet orders the evacuation of Fort Irwin, where will everyone go? The colony? I doubt that it is able to support such a large group of new arrivals. I still do not get it why so many people think that the colony is a safe haven.
