Zombies similar to Orks in Warhammer 40K?

    Good Morning all,

One thing that has struck me about the zombies is that they are similar in structure to the Orks featured in Warhammer 40K with some differences of course.

    Similarities:

large brainless mass of cannon fodder troops.

small number of specialised zombies, e.g. jumpers, behemoths etc.

a few, or in the case of LA's outbreak, one 'smart' zombie in control of the mob.
(although Pinstripes isn't the physically biggest zombie, he's certainly the smartest).

some small ones, which were apparently created rather than previously being human.

If this is the case then perhaps the ability of the zombie outbreak to spread is partly airborne via fungus molecules etc. but triggered by death

    thoughts?

Well, there are similarities, but I don't think the 40k Orks were an inspiration. The similarities are most probably purely coincidental.

That being said, the 40K Ork are cool as heck, as are the WA zombies.

EDIT: SPOILERS ABOUT THE WALKING DEAD

Also, unlike in The Walking Dead, we've seen people die and not turn, so I doubt that's the case. We also know that the survivors (at least some of them) aren't immune, since Tommy turned into a zombie after infected. We also know that death is not a prerequisite for turning. Finally, we also know that the creatures aren't even dead, they're in fact alive (as proven by the fact that they have bodily functions such as breathing and metabolism and the need to sleep). So no, while I think an airborne virus is possible, I don't find it likely. Definitely not in the 40k Ork way.

Wonderful story with an exciting ending
