The eyes Might have it...

Hyper-Keratin

My guess is the zombies are hardened by a hyper production of Keratin in skin and bones. Great for deflecting bullets, but it might really suck in the eyes. Might screw them up and make it difficult to see. The Blue / green eyes do not produce the melanin. So, if I was super creative, I might say that they same ressesive trait that prevents the production of melanin, might also reduce the amount of hyper-keratin produced.

Doesn't she triumph by turning into a tree? It's interesting all the different Erzulie's there are. Probably a mix of different Loa's to begin with combined with events producing a needed version...

Very interesting. We never get any details on what the eyes of a Behemoth look like but we have interaction in the form of Riley's well placed shot into the eye of one of them. And then a behemoth covers its eyes while being shot at (was that the one chasing Kalani & Angel or the one chasing Saul & Victor?).

And we go through the whole "incredible sense of smell" discovery in Season 1 that could hint at a reduced eyesight capability in the "normals".

As they say, "the eyes are the windows to the soul" so in this case maybe the eyes are the doorway to downfall of TOWTM and maybe all of the Zombie Apocalypse....
