personally, i dont believe in the whole, "the only way to kill a zombie is to remove the head or, destroying the brain."... i know what ur thinking, "this guy is sooooo dead when the zombies come!"

let me explain...
1. muscles require blood flow as well as oxygen and the nervous system, to move
2.if you shoot the heart, blood flow will stop, therefor stopping the zombie
3. even if it is still alive, it cant move,,, at all so its like vegetable

i believe more in the infected aproach instead of the dead rising from the grave BS. in other words NOT GEORGE ROMERO'S ZOMBIE. i like the 28 days later idea except the time it takes to turn, i think its more like a few hours.
but hey, prove me wrong, i love talking zombie science...

One of the things I love about We're Alive is that the characters seem to be aware of zombie stories, and zombie memes seem to influence their actions. One example is that first fight against the zombies at the Army Reserve Base, where they shoot zombies who don't immediately go down. Then they resort to headshots, which drop the zombies immediately. I think that this was a misdirection by KC and crew, and that they aren't saying that you can only kill the zombies with headshots, just that that's the fastest way to put them down. Later we have plenty of evidence that you can kill a zombie without shooting it in the head.

We already know that the zombies are stronger than normal humans, that they only rarely show any sort of fear or survival instinct, and that they don't seem to be effected by pain. Given those conditions a zombie could take a lot of physical damage, enough to kill it in time, yet continue to attack.

A good historic example is the Moro Warriors in the Philippines. Back in the late 1800s, when the US was trying to subjagate the island of Mindanao, the Moros used suicide attackers against American troops. These were "consecrated" holy warriors, who went through special rituals and imbibed performance enhancing drugs before launching attacks against the Americans armed only with a large knife. In one well-documented case a Moro charged an American officer, who shot him six times, getting six solid hits, but the Moro survived long enough to hack the officer to death before dropping dead himself from blood loss and shock. The combination of adrenaline, performance enhancing drugs and having no sense of self-preservation allowed the Moros to ignore injuries that should have stopped them in their tracks. They still died from their injuries, just not right away.

Cool fact, the ineffectiveness of the Army's 38 caliber revolvers against the Moros is what led the Army to adopt the 45 caliber automatic as its standard sidearm.
