Fort Irwin

Fort Irwin is a US Army installation located in the California Mojave Desert. The base is also known as the National Training Center, and is used for combat training for large military formations.

• Chapter 21 - Michael decides to relocate the Tower occupants to Fort Irwin and starts a search for helicopters.
  
• Chapter 24 - Michael, Pegs, Riley, Datu, Kelly, Tanya and Hope leave the collapsing Tower and head off to Fort Irwin by helicopter.

  Survivors from Boulder arrive at Fort Irwin, but there are Little Ones among them, leading to a battle to protect the base.

  The battle for Fort Irwin is lost when the Little Ones figure out how to force their ways into the defending Bradleys. A small group, including many Tower survivors, manages to escape to LA using the hastily repaired Pelican. As they depart the fail-safe nuclear bomb is detonated, destroying the base.
