Background
- Top graduate of Westport Military Academy, CJ's daughter, and a trainee at Westport training alongside Nicholas Tink and Alex. Born into a world already accustomed to the infected.
- Over time, begins to learn about the dark past of her father's side of the family -- secrets, choices, and events she never knew, that complicate her understanding of who her family truly is. Eventually revealed to be the daughter of Oliver Blackburn and tied to the secret Families, making her both a political and genetic target.
Personality
- Disciplined, tactical, and emotionally guarded. Her arc begins with self-doubt -- living in her mother's shadow, she feels she can never measure up, never be as commanding, confident, or naturally respected. A perfectionist, rigidly by-the-book, and deeply intimidated by the scope of responsibility that comes with her name.
- Smart, strong-willed, and stubborn, but hesitant to trust her instincts. Where others act impulsively, Vera plans; where others lead loudly, she supports quietly. Often serves as Nick's moral counterweight, grounding him when his ego or anger threatens to take over -- deeply drawn to him, hiding her feelings behind discipline and restraint.
- Over time, she stops trying to be her mother and starts defining her own form of strength, learning confidence through control, focus, and precision rather than force -- where Nick relies on instinct and luck, Vera relies on preparation and mastery.
Notable In The Series
- Becomes a squad leader and leads a failed retrieval mission during her Westport training, refusing to call in help despite escalating danger, reinforcing her authority, discipline, and commitment to protocol.
- Later becomes a captive in The Boar's Primm arenas; loses Lisa under her command, an event that haunts her -- Lisa sacrifices herself to ensure Vera's escape.
- Betrayed by Vincent, who flees with her after murdering Michael.
