Plot
At the gold truck site, the team unlocks it using the security code from their map, discovering it filled with gold bars worth approximately $1 billion. Carl identifies the gold as originating from Fort Knox. Realizing the truck is damaged beyond repair, they decide to rest for the night and look for another way to transport the gold in the morning.
The calm is disrupted by a powerful sandstorm. The group scrambles into the helicopter, but the storm forces a crash-landing near Hackberry, where they're swarmed by unusually strong second-generation infected. Amid the chaos, mysterious sniper fire eliminates the infected -- the group discovers Gloria, a resourceful survivor armed with a Barrett .50 caliber rifle.
Gloria leads them to safety and reveals her home: an underground Cold War-era missile silo she calls "The Atlas," built by her family before the outbreak. She offers the group shelter for the night, and the chapter closes with them cautiously agreeing to stay.
