Kc addressed this earlier in the thread - it sounds like skipping 8 was convenient so they didn't have to turn the counting into sesame street time.
On the idea of the little ones and their mothers: my impression was that the mothers had the number on their foreheads and the babies ended up with a matching number on their arms. My assumption was that it was the mothers that were left and that the one baby had died in childbirth. Also, did anyone else get the impression the baby chewed/clawed its way out based on the description given? I'll have to go back and re-listen to the scene as I haven't had a chance to do that yet.
Another thought on the babies being turned pre-birth: I really hope that is the case as it boads better for Lizzy. If the mothers were getting all of the injections while pregnant in order to turn their baby into a little one, perhaps it means that Lizzy's baby is safe from that fate. (Unless that latent infection of Sauls goes and screws everything up...) Then again, if they get turned after.... I hope more people show up to prevent Ink from playing Frankenstein with the new arrival.
