Fort Irwin

Fort Irwin is a US Army installation located in the California Mojave Desert. The base is also known as the National Training Center, and is used for combat training for large military formations.

Appearances:

• Chapter 21 - Michael decides to relocate the Tower occupants to Fort Irwin and starts a search for helicopters.
• Chapter 24 - Michael, Pegs, Riley, Datu, Kelly, Tanya and Hope leave the collapsing Tower and head off to Fort Irwin by helicopter.
• Chapter 25 - The Tower survivors arrive at Fort Irwin.
• Chapters 26-29 - The Tower survivors are processed in at Fort Irwin
• Chapter 30 - Victor and Saul observe and follow a military recon team from Fort Irwin
• Chapter 33-34 - Michael, Riley and Tanya are seen operating out of Fort Irwin

  Survivors from Boulder arrive at Fort Irwin, but there are Little Ones among them, leading to a battle to protect the base.
• Chapter 36 -
  SPOILER 

  The battle for Fort Irwin is lost when the Little Ones figure out how to force their ways into the defending Bradleys. A small group, including many Tower survivors, manages to escape to LA using the hastily repaired Pelican. As they depart the fail-safe nuclear bomb is detonated, destroying the base.
