It's more like vampires (non-emo ones) crossed with zombies. If vampires were made the same way plague-type zombies were made but mostly just wanted the blood.

You've got a plague from an ancient infection reemerging in today's world. The army attempting to weaponize it and the usual results, and an apocalypse, what more could you want? It's the first in a series and I'll have to wait forever for the next part.

I think it's really well written.
