Survival Kits: Medical Kits

Infection leads to lost limbs and blood poisoning and death and all that fun stuff. Infection in wounds is very bad, and in an apocalypse, it is safe to say there will be many wounds. I would carry some antibiotics, along with the standard first aid kit. Then again, I would know how to use pretty much all of what I have so I would be happy with everything I have. And I could improvise if need be. Then again, duct tape and crazy glue are also very helpful. Crazy glue can be used in place of stitches, and duct tape is always helpful.

Ah, being stupid boys in the woods does give one some knowledge of dealing with injuries and survival and whatnot. So does nursing school and having older brothers and younger sisters Either way, my hermity friend, I think we would both do pretty well in survival during a time of zombies. (And hermity is now a real word.... lol)

I will point out that a great many infections can be decreased with application of soap and water and a tight dressing.I would caution the antibiotics of any sort on a person you did not know as allergic reactions can be deadly.

I completely agree with you, yarri. Any antibiotic use would be a last measure, and only on friends or family that have no known drug allergies of any kind. There is a reason one of our 4 hour labs at the beginning of the year was devoted completely to hand washing and keeping a clean environment, it helps stop the spread of things we don't want in our bodies.
