    Post Apocalyptic Fiction

I'm looking for your favorite post-apocalyptic fiction. It could be a book, short story, movie, tv series, podcast or audio book that isn't in print.

How about some suggestions for others who are interested in the genre? I'm always looking for new stuff.

These are my "gun to my head" favorites.
    Book- Alas, Babylon
    Short story-
Movie-Night of the Comet j/k it's The Road Warrior
TV Series- The Walking Dead - like we have very many choices. It's either that or Planet of the Apes right?
    Audio book-
    Podcast- We're Alive (of course)

    Post-Apocalytic stuff that I loathe:
    Book-
    Short Story-
    Movie- I am Legend
TV Series- Sadly, not enough of them to develope a seething hatred
    Audio book- FETIDUS
    Podcast-

What was wrong with "I am legend?"

Books:I used to be pretty high on the "Vampire Earth" series by E.E. Knight until the last book. Ewww! The Word&Void series by Terry Brooks is very good.

Movies: I actually liked "The Postman" with Kevin Costner, but i'll go with "Planet of the Apes"

TV series: Jericho was pretty good while it lasted.

Book-I am Legend I liked the movie and all, but it had nothing to do with the book. It is one of the best looks at the psychology of a man alone I have ever heard.
Movie- Dawn of the dead(Original Romero)
    TV- Walking Dead

bvglee, i started reading Patriots, but I quit about 1/4th way through the book. Honestly its not that good. It is very very detailed, so much to the point where it inhibits the flow of the story. Its a very anti-government survivalist type of book. I was very dissappointed with the book, which sucks because the plot sounded interesting.

Crap. I forgot all about Jericho. Man, I LOVED that series. I was dedicated fan. I even started buying the comics when it was cancelled but it just wasn't the same.
and on the subject I also forgot about Kings. That was really good if you can call it post-apocalyptic and I think we can.

I'm comparing it to the book. I think that it didn't do it justice. The same with The Road. When I read that I could feel the cold and smell the soot in the air. And, The Postman was good. I don't know why it got such bad reviews and a low turnout.

Bvglee I have to disagree with Boomstick. Its a great book and not anti government at all. I have read once and listened to it once, most of my friends have read it and love it. Also if you want to read Alas Babylon which I loved check out One Second After.
