The Norwegian Navy is selling a surplus submarine base, built into a mountain on a fjord near Tromso. The price is about $17 million, and it includes the pier, some buildings and a great big tunnel bored deep into a mountain.

Cool installation, and so much cheaper than the sub base. But, there's no place to park your sub!

My ultimate fortress? An island. The sea makes a pretty effective barrier against the undead. Couple that with designs like you see in the rest of the thread, a reliable source of energy and fertile land and you have yourself a perfect little fort knox. Although a raid on fort knox might be neccessary to afford the island + compound.
