The issue has been resolved now. What I did was, verify the integrity of game files using Steam. After doing this, the issue was resolved. I found this solution here. If you face the same issue in the future, do this first.
If you play other games that are not smooth on your own computer, then drift hunters is a game for sure when you play it will no longer have that phenomenon.
