I think scratch will follow Saul, Victor, Lizzy, Puck, and Karl back to Dunbar. We hear how gridlocked everything seems to be around LA so there wouldn't be many ways to go from the Colony to Dunbar. Scratch doesn't know exactly where Dunbar is but they know it's approximate lactation so a probable route could be figured out depending on gridlocks and the area where they know it could be.
Scratch tries to get Saul and Victor to break her into the Colony and are forced to tell Lizzy they were exiled.
I'm very interested to see how Scratch works back into the story. She wants Pegs, for sure. She now knows and hates CJ but may believe CJ is toast after the way she left her. Either way, the Colony is a prime target for Scratch as long as she thinks Pegs is there.
So, will Scratch bird dog the Dunbar bound convoy out of curiosity? Or will she see it as an opportunity to penetrate the Colony defenses with so much firepower gone? I'm thinking she's focused on the Colony... but when will she strike?
And I think Saul is plotting and planning. How to get all his peeps (and the dog) out of the Colony and into his safe haven (hey, he lived for a bunch of months in Dunbar and the safe house network without any big problems). Will his plans include Michael and Co? Will they include the possibility of a double cross from CJ?
I love the way Kc is setting the stage here.... Just can't wait for the curtain to go up!
Hi.
1) What will happen when Lizzy starts to understand the or learn about the situation of Saul and Victor? Will she explode and go all drama, or will she fuel the departure and do anything to keep the Colonists away?
2) Scratch: I don't think Scratch, Tardust (, and the remaining Mallers?) will chase down Dunbar which is like 30 miles away; after the rebellion and the zombie-attack I hold it more likely that they will have found shelter in one of the outposts of the Colony. This would allow them to observe what happens at the Colony; and they could expect that no Colonist would take position in those outposts anytime soon. Also Scratch would be much closer to the Colony in order to strike at the right moment.
3) I feel bad about Michael. He seems to be in his comfort zone to serve a purpose; and everyone near him discloses the realities. I wonder what happens when Michael learns about all those tragic events ...
Best wishes,
Liam
Nope. The only thing Scratch might know is that "somewhere over there" could be a location, which ... But this would be the same location Kalani was sent to in the first place. He never revealed the location. And after Dunbar was overrun, Scratch had a new target - Michael's tower. That's why I have some doubt to expect Scratch in, around or near Dunbar - only accidentally.
It's 12:22 AND I EXPECT MORE POSTS IN HERE.
I expect a huge christmas party at the colony, after all it's around that time now... 22.nd or 23.rd of december, not exactly sure. I'm just surprised that there's no snow in the colony - but well, I don't know how the weather works in LA. :)
I doubt that Scratch will show up yet, at least not by attacking neither Dunbar nor the the colony. No idea how she'll enter the scene again then, but...yeah, I dunno.
I'm just looking forward to the moment when Michael finds out what CJ's hiding from him... She's such a snake right now!
Oh, and I loved Tanya telling Hope to be more happy. She'll have to wait for her eyes to get used to all the inputs again. She's been blind for months now. And after all, it sounded like her condition was better than before the surgery, so... Did she actually lose anything from it? Not really. :)
The last time there was a party, there was also a war ... No, wait. This time things are much cooler, 'cause them friggin' Mallers are outnumbered and outgunned, and them zombos got their asses handed back too many times according to #36 and #37 ... So yeah:

I for one am exhausted by all the speculation we did for the last episode, after which things just fell smoothly in place (except Riley randomly sensing something might be up). I think this is a "let's wait and see" episode. (Build up, no release) :)
Nurse Brit remakes an appearance and becomes CJ's personal nurse/assistant. CJ happens to die shortly after writing a living will putting Nurse Brit in charge of the Colony. Micheal has a hissy fit and leaves, Riley is taken back by the blonde bombshell in charge and ... After which they use channel 18 to call scratch to give up pegs. After scratch comes to kill pegs they kill scratch hang her body outside of the walls as a warning that no @-hole should F with the colony. TOWTM avoids the colony forever fearing the rath of nurse Brit and Riley. Mean while the tower falls. The end.
Here's some more Voodoo symbolism for you~
Some of the symbols on Ink are Voodo--specifically snakes referring to the loa Damballah who is seen as the creator of all life. Damballah has two wives (or one wife and one concubine, potato, potahto) one of which is always depicted as having scars or scratches on her cheeks! The second wife with the scratches has an aspect called Erzulie Dantor.
From Wikipedia (emphasis mine):
Quote:
In her Petro nation aspect as Erzulie Dantor she is often depicted as a scarred and buxom black woman, holding a child protectively in her arms. She is a particularly fierce protector of women and children. She is often identified with lesbian women.
A common syncretic depiction of Erzulie Dantor is St. Jeanne D'Arc, who is displayed carrying or supporting a sword. Another is as the Black Madonna of Częstochowa, as she is represented as being dark-skinned. Her colours are red, gold and navy blue. Her symbols are a pierced heart and knives or swords. Her favourite sacrifices include black pigs, griot (seasoned fried pork), and rum.
The scars on her cheek are said to be the result of a fight between her and Erzulie Freda over possession of Ti-Jean Petro, as the two are fierce rivals. The cuts shown on her face in the syncretic reproductions are matches to the surface damage on the Black Madonna's face in the original icon.
Sound like anyone we know?
Man...I much prefer Erzulie from Once on this Island.
Pretty Goddess of Love who triumphs over Papa Ge. Not a vindictive lover of all men who treats women like poop.
Well, the last "wife" we saw TOWTM take was Samantha. She had beautiful green eyes. Remeber what color his eyes were? Green. I wonder if we know anyone else with green eyes. /wink...
Damn, can't rep you until I spread blah blah blah. Anyway, what did seriously happen in this episode? The big punishment of Victor and Saul is to stay at Dunbar, and that I expected. But now they make it sound not like an exile but just like them managing an extension of the colony, with periodical visits from Michael and the rest from the Colony. So, what's the big punishment? Not being able to walk in Liberty Park anymore? What's the point, what did CJ obtain by that? We went from "I will send you out there to die ("you think that matters to me right now?") to "Help yourself with the whole building, I left you some real nice white wine in the pantry". It seemed real smooth and CJ did not even achieve his revenge over Saul and Victor. I don't know, maybe I'm overanalyzing.
perhaps you are and perhaps not. what if Cj has actually doubly manipulated saul and vic by thinking they are being punished, yet in fact she has placed two people she knows as capable out into the field. while she doubtless was quite serious about "never wanting to see them again" she also has just established a backup plan should the colony fail. plans within plans within plans...goddamn her. I want to hate her but taken in that context.....don't know that I can.
scratch that....I still do.
Well, CJ did get called out in 37-3 by Saul/Victor during her banishment rant. They reminded her of her deal with them about Ground Zero. She felt he had to honor her word since she was calling them out for lying. So, she gets them out of the Colony, still maintains her illusion of integrity, and as 7odd says, may have put a backup/failsafe plan into motion with Saul/Victor/Lizzy re-establishing Dunbar, the safe houses, and the supporting systems they had.
At a minimum, she has to know that Saul and Michael will have some sort of communications after the exiles get back up into LA. That will give CJ information on how things stand at Dunbar, et al.
Oh, and with respect to numbers in the Colony, when Victor sneaks back into the Colony via the water truck in Chapter 32, he gets Gatekeeper and CJ talking on the police radios. Gatekeeper gives her a rundown on Colony numbers (from 32-2 around the 13:30 mark):
- 90 Colonist remaining before the Mallers show up
- 20 slaves the Mallers brought with them
- 30 (rough guess) Mallers themselves
Total of around 140 people; 110 minus the Mallers.
Obviously some of the Colonists and slaves are killed in the revolt. It's assumed that all of the Mallers are either killed or get out of the Colony during that time. Some number of the remaining people are killed in the Zombie attack that follows as well.
Add Glenn and Pete along with CJ, Saul, Victor, Lizzy, Michael, Datu, Tanya, Hope, Kelly, Burt, Riley, Pegs, Puck, Muldoon, Robbins, and Carl.
That could be a total Colony population of between 75 and 90, assuming that there are at least the 62 mentioned in the voting conversation plus the known non-voters (everyone from Irwin + Saul, Victor, Burt, and Lizzie).
In case anyone was wondering..... :)
@scbubba: Thanks for the numbers. Those have slipped my mind; also I may have been way too pessimistic about them with the revolt and the latest zombattacks in mind.
The only thing I wonder is "Colonist" a title, much like guardian. When victor is leading Pegs etal and he says Colony, she Parrots colony, much like she does when she hears Marcus. Could be a device KC uses to help it stick in the listeners mind, but could also be she recognizes the names. What makes me suspicious is Pegs calls Michael etal Guardians in her Journal in Season 1 even before we hear the term, but Michael etal call themselves soldiers.
Is there a difference between "colonist" and survivor?
I like the theory....but I'm having trouble remembering exactly (unless I dreamt it), I recall Kc commenting a long time ago when someone pointed out an inconsistency in the story of someone's eye color. I thought it was something like Michael's first time seeing someone he described them as having blue eyes, then when saul saw them it was green eyes. I swore it was Lizzy, but I'm having doubts if this ever happened at all now since I perused the 'loophole' thread where I swore I read it, and can't find it again....
I recall (if it happened and I'm not insane), Kc saying they would go back and fix it so both said the same color, but if this actually happened, I'd have a hard time believing the specific color of un-turned eyes is a main plot point if Kc made a mistake on ones color.
That said, I'm a huge proponent of the eye thing. I stand by my critiques a few episodes ago about the chick who Tonya put down and Michael specifically calling out the appearance of her eyes.
Please tell me I didn't dream up that first part someone?
You are right about blue vs green, but both are related in that they do not produce the brown color. The dark eyes are the ones that are colored with typical skin pigment. The Blue and Green color is more a function of how light is scattered within the eye. Like the sky is blue because the narrow wavelengths are scattered more than longer wavelengths.
You really can't put a bunch of blue eyes in a blender and get back a blue paint. You could do it with brown eyes because of the melanin and get a brown color.

The eyes Might have it...
Hyper-Keratin
My guess is the zombies are hardened by a hyper production of Keratin in skin and bones. Great for deflecting bullets, but it might really suck in the eyes. Might screw them up and make it difficult to see. The Blue / green eyes do not produce the melanin. So, if I was super creative, I might say that they same ressesive trait that prevents the production of melanin, might also reduce the amount of hyper-keratin produced.
Man, I am sorry, niK. I did not mean to hyjack your thread.
/sheepishly slinks away.
I thought it was my eye thread...
Very interesting. We never get any details on what the eyes of a Behemoth look like but we have interaction in the form of Riley's well placed shot into the eye of one of them. And then a behemoth covers its eyes while being shot at (was that the one chasing Kalani & Angel or the one chasing Saul & Victor?).
And we go through the whole "incredible sense of smell" discovery in Season 1 that could hint at a reduced eyesight capability in the "normals".
As they say, "the eyes are the windows to the soul" so in this case maybe the eyes are the doorway to downfall of TOWTM and maybe all of the Zombie Apocalypse....

Since you won't be needing the tinfoil hat, let me wear it for a second. Maybe Hope was just thinking in terms of herself or maybe there is a broader meaning, but when she talks to Datu she says something to the effect of 'where ever I go it's just a matter of time.'
Her mom, redheaded Samantha was snatched by TOWTM's goons and delivered to him.
Red hair - green eyes. TOWTM has green eyes. So does Samantha.
I'm gonna stop here because the only other stuff I could come up with are Green eyes - envy - Cain envious of Able - Cain Hospital - Able = Can do - Datu can do anything...
OK, back to bed I go.
I haven't seen this much obsession with eyes since JK Rowling said Harry's eyes are very important to the Harry Potter series..
