So, I am wondering if the zombie leader outside the tower is Randy:
- Was he a zombie already when he and Michael met?
- Did he helped Michael escape?
- Does he retain knowledge of his former humanity?
- Are the zombie's surrounding the Colony to attack or defend (is Ink on his way down)?
- If there are "good" zombie leaders; could that even matter since left to their own devices they kill and turn humans.

1. I highly doubt that Randy was already turned when he met Michael, if so, i would assume that Michaels attitude toward the zombies would be different, but he never shows any hesitation whatsoever to kill them when they are encountered. He also sounds very surprised when he encounters zombie Randy at the tower.
2. It seems to be implied that that is the case given what evidence we've been given, but until it is confirmed its just another guess.
3.It seems plausible, if only at the most basic level, but from what little we've seen of him he hasn't exactly been playing nice, so I would assume that the drives that come along with zombification are so strong as to overpower any remaining shreds of former humanity......
4. Im pretty sure that they are there to attack the Colony.
5. Whereas there may be multiple zombie factions, I think the one thing they all have in common is hostility to humans.

I sort of thought the whole arena scene showed us that zombies and humans could coexist. The low ranking zombies refrained from eating humans and kept them in holding cells, so that was a coexistence of sorts. I can see the smart ones eventually figuring out how to breed humans for food.

I don't think the arena scene with Datu and Samantha was an instance of the Z's showing us how they keep a food supply at all. It was the piles of corpse both human and dead Z's that were the food. Datu, Kalani, Samantha, and that other guy were kept as playthings for Ink, not food, although they were feasted on after being "played" with. Its a ceremony of sorts where the whole point was to illustrate the cruelty of Ink and his position of power where he's so special that he gets these treats, tears them apart in front of his followers, and maybe shares peices among those lucky enough to get some.
Hmmmm. Maybe right. Makes me wonder if any "smart ones" could think about long term food plans at all... Or do they just think "we'll always have food - just need to follow the people" like predators of migratory animals in the wild.Quote:

I agree. I think you nailed the main point of the scene. But the scene also, to a lesser degree, showed that zombies are capable of collecting humans (and body parts) without eating them right away, on the spot. That would be important if the smart ones figure out they need to start breeding their own food.Quote:

Actullay if you look at the watering holes in the grasslands of Africa, lions, gazelles, zebras and all others sorts of prey and predator coexist together serenely. It is only when the lions and cheetahs get hungry and need to hunt for survival do the masses get spooked and run to protect themselves. In the same sense, I could see a mutual understanding coming to both zombies and humans. Although, the humans would always be lower on the food chain and, knowing Maslow's Heirarchy of Needs, a zombie/human coexistence would not survive because lack of security and all.
