What's your favorite scary movie?

So I grew up watching several scary movies, thanks to my older sister, and I can't get enough of the genre! Lately there hasn't been any good "Scary" movies release. We have the remakes...of the remakes...of the remakes mostly. So I'd like to see what your favorite old school scary movie, and modern scary movies might be, and why(optional :)).

Old School: Pet Cemetery (Growing up, the little kid scare the living crap outta me)
Modern: Paranormal Activity (Since Voorhees, Krueger, or Chucky can't scare me anymore, the more "realistic" films tend to creep me out)

Exorcist
Halloween (no, not the Rob Zombie abortion)

I have one, but its a TV show instead. That episode of X-Files, I thonk it is called Home. They always air it around Hallowee. Its the episode with all the inbreeding. OMGosh, that was just awful.

Yeah, it was Home. The mother under the bed fucked me right up.

For classics I can't really beat the original Nightmare of Elm Street
As for new: awhile back I saw an independent film called "Home Movie" (made in 2008 I think) It is honestly one of the creepiest movies I've ever seen. One of the few films that I can say gave me nightmares.

Blood Shot movie is one of mine best watched scary movie to till date. I am not much interested to watch scary movie.
I watch scary movie only when some one with me also watch that scary movie.

Guy's there are lots of scary and horror movies that i have seen. and guy's here i'm sharing the movies which i think was the most scariest movie that i have ever seen. The movie named SAW 1. For me its the most scariest movie that i have ever seen.

In it's own way Saw was creepy, some crazy guy out there could probably really pull something like this off.

seconded..while its not the scariest, creepiest, goriest, any other est's you can think of...its a film with literally every scary notion I enjoy all rolled into one...tops my list by far. Seconded by a film called "session 9"..low budget, big on ideas...wonderful concept.

Hello. I have watched so many movies but from the last 20 days I am too busy even don't have time to take a birds eye view of any movie. But the scary movie I am in love and watch it again and again is Halloween. This is all time my favorite movie. Thank you so much for sharing.

I'm going to pile on to the "Event Horizon" band wagon. Love that movie. Not necessarily the "scariest" movie ever made but it definitely qualifies as a scary movie and it is one of my favorites. Haven't seen it in a while. Need to see if it's on Netflix or Amazon Prime.

Cube is such a good flick. Loved Nicole De Boer in it.

In the commentary Paul Anderson said the scene in Cube was his inspiration for the ''cubing'' of One in the laser room. So looked up the movie and was really impressed.

Old school scary would be Zombie 1979. I was 5, I had no idea what was going on or why the hell my mom let me watch it.
Now, MAMA, the little girl was creepy and Mama was one scary bitch.

I remember the first time I saw that vivisection. It really blew my mind. I can't think of anything I'd seen before that compared to it, and really that scene stayed with me for a long time. Also, the scene where:

SPOILER 

(I think it was) Rennes was blasted in the face with acid,

and the body is laying on the floor, and you can see into the skull cavity, blargh! That gave me chills the first time. It's really an amazing flick for being super low-budget and having only two smalls sets to work with. Brilliant idea. Crap. Now I want to go back, and watch it again.

What about Candyman? That's good old school horror. An urban legend that turns out to be less of a myth than you'd think? It was pretty cheesy, but it certainly told a great yarn about a woman's downward spiral into the flushing toilet bowl of sanity.

Mine isn't a movie, but a tv series. I cannot watch Unsolved Mysteries. Haven't been able to since I was six and my grandfather left me ALONE in a hospital waiting room with a marathon of it on tv and no way to change the channel. I can recognize the narrators voice anywhere. Now the one series of movies that are listed as horror that I think is just adorable and love is Critters. I could do a marathon of those.
