It's a possibility that some people won't like it, but that goes with everything.
Mini update, draft 2 is 107 pages in of the now 300. These things usually get longer rather than shorter, at least my writing does.
There was also one scene added in near the end. Do you have any idea what that is, no... but it's pretty cool. It was something I wanted to put in but struggled to find a place but finally found it. I hope it still works once I get into the 2nd draft.
I wonder if you'll get more flack from people given that this will be a purchased product rather than free. You know, us assholes like to feel like we're getting our $$$ worth... :nik:
- Do you find that your drafts follow the general '1 minute per page' standard, or is that an old, OTR bullshit standard?
- If you ever sold WA as a television series and were commissioned as lead writer, would you have trouble re-formatting the show to fit the more rigid tv specs (for ads, etc)?
- Also, in the original WA, you made some effort to create mini-arcs within the seasons and even within each episode, so as to carry forward momentum in the series. Are you thinking of TFWA as more of a mini-series with a similar approach to arcs, or rather as one long movie with one big arc? Does this thinking affect how you want to split up the 5 hours, if at all?
Hmmm... cool. I'm wondering whether the additional information we will get from the jail will do more to answer some lingering questions for us, or raise more questions than answers... O_o
I hope that Lockdown will be at least as good as this...

You mean you were using "uber" BEFORE 'before it was cool'? That's Uber-hipster. Just kidding, my homeboy from another Heimat. Plus 20 Cool Points. It's great having the gang get back together, guys.
Just thought of something, at (+/-) 5 hours of audio, 'Lockdown' is gonna have quite a bit of dialog. I was thinking that is would be a behemoth-making story, but I imagined that being filled with mostly growls and howls. Maybe we'll find out about the inmates being holed up in the (cafeteria?).
No. Not a spoof ...http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2784512/?ref_=nv_sr_1
Okay, Kc... another question about 'Lockdown'...
One of the things that set WA apart from the pack was the fact that it was a strong, character-driven show. Of course, you also had the luxury of developing some of those characters through four full seasons of content, and we got to see them change quite a bit.
I imagine with 'Lockdown' being 'only' 5 hours running time, you won't have much time for dynamics (i.e., character change)... but do you think that will be sufficient time to develop some characters what we care about as an audience? Has the relative lack of time caused issues with your writing?

The only reason why you may wish to wach this flick is in order to spectate overly sexualized young hot women ... And yet there are more than enough other movies doing this much better than "Zombeavers" ... And if you intent to waste your time, watch something else anyway or procrastinate with kitten-pictures on the world wide webszZ.
Cheers!

These are good question. 5 hours for Lockdown roughly equals half a season in WA. But in WA we often have several story-archs or plotlines being told simultaneously. Also we had many characters in WA. If Lockdown focuses on just one main plot and has only a handful of main characters telling their story, then I would not be surprised to see a similarly deep story and structure as what we have with the WA origins ...
Cheers!

I can tell you this: At least "Zombeavers" has something to look hat - young, hot chicks.
I know other (zombie-genre) movies which have nothing to show at all. Like, for example: "Osombie" ... By all means: avoid this *enter any NSFW words* bull-crap ...
Best wishes!
Liam
Na, the one thing that came to my mind besides the "Meet the Feebles"-pastiche-ness of this flick was simply: wow, there must have been marketing geniuses involved. And I wholeheartedly salute this obvious uber-PowerPoint(tm)-presentation (maybe including large amounts of white powder) which helped to get the movie financed.
This earned my respect.

I think you'll be surprised what I can do in that amount of time. It's more than enough time to establish characters, and become familiar with them. I'm writing to content, not time (as per usual), and the 5 hours was just how long the story lasted. In many ways I don't have to re-establish so much of what is already going on, and it's a far smaller cast, and mostly an A storyline to focus on.
Yup! I was actually worried about it not being long enough, but it just happened to run where I wanted it to. I'm still adding and cutting lines, so we go longer and shorter at times; but as always Story is King.
Hey Kc....regarding "Lockdown":
1. Will this 5-6 hour production be broken up into, say, 30 min episodes and released over a series of weeks? Or all in one gulp?
2. Given your experience from the WA series, do you have any new recording techniques that you might employ for "Lockdown" that you didn't employ in 'We're Alive'?
1. Nope. It'll be more like three 1.5-2 hour segments. We've talked about doing a three-night event to stream it online as a premiere. Still a lot up in the air as we finalize kickstarter stuff.
2. Shout-mics and crouch mics. There will be a station set up where there will be two mics at different gain levels so we don't miss a performance to tearing. The Crouch mic will be set up very low to the ground so the actors can actually record on the floor. We did it for one of Saul's scenes in Chapter 48, but it'll be more permanent while we record.
There's a lot of other stuff that's new as well, but it's more involved with the story format like longer scenes and such. There's definitely some elements of new format experimentation too that I won't talk about here.
I'm gonna try to show up more. But with family here growing by one more estimated delivery in February, I don't know how much time I can commit to. :) I've missed you guys!
wait is there actually a Season 5?!O_o
Where are we supposed to post our thoughts about the 15 minute kickstarter preview?
Any word about when it will be released?
Thanks so much having hard time and can't find lockdown on the podcast app for windows cell phone. Mobile app doesn't have it. I'm able to listen to it via the website so it's all good. Just wanted to let you know thanks again.
