Awesome! That's great, Kc!
As far as the Tower, i think we can look for Spring st. (I think) and ask some residents to hang up a WA banner for a picture! I'm good with finagling these kinds of things...

all good sir, actually something to consider is the day of the event you could have a van full of gophers at your disposal.
as for seeing some of the sights from the story, something we could coordinate would be between myself, lit, you, and cabbage patch getting accurate locations for a la tour. I think we all know you will be busy as hell right around that time, but with a little pre planning we could get the right people who aren't involved in that to take us on a tour.
and the studio tour the following day would be AWESOME. But, I'm totally saying this right now, we will take what we can get and be happy. Period. You do not have to put yourself out for us. That was not the purpose of this at all. I just wanted to make a cool drive cooler by bringing some friends along who may not have come out otherwise.
carry on

Some are based on locations and such, but some exist in their own true form. There's a location based for everything, so you can visit WHERE the tower's supposed to be.
There's a timer set on it, so yes. It's not a huge timer, it's just meant to prevent spam. I've never seen "Dislike" used. We might just disable it.
Haha this would be awesome guys. I'll see if time permits! Would definitely be a way to see the show end!
It'll be interesting if there's a Q&A with the cast and crew after the live show, because there's usually a lot of questions posted from the forum - the way things are looking, most of us will be in the audience :)
I can't wait for these videos. I would love to come but no way can I do it. (Wife and kids) But this sounds amazing so I'm up for helping however I can. I can get the Brown Ale for you's at least. I will live vicariously through your videos and posts.
Well if were talking about bringing over some ales...
I'm partial to Samuel smiths nut brown. How far from tadcaster are you blokes?
see what I did there? I'm not even sure what I did. Damn you gentleman jack! *shakes a single fist, falls over*
Way less than the journey you have ahead of you
There's an off-license in my local area that sells a wide range of ales - I'll check to see if they sell Samuel Smith's.
It's ironic that I live in Newcastle upon Tyne yet they don't brew Brown Ale here anymore. Shame really, as they demolished the brewery and built student housing on it instead.
Attachment 2921This one's for you, Tony!
Nice one! I'll have to teach you some Geordie phrases and get you fully intered as an adopted Newcastle resident :)
Hope you're having a good session :)
You guys, with your road trip plans you are making me *jealous*. There's no way I can find the funds for a trip like that, or I'd be with you in a heartbeat. Planning a viewing/listening party instead, to be with you all in spirit :)
There will be plenty of videos and blog updates during the journey, maybe even a live feed if we can get connectivity to skype or another similar media. As long as you've got a vessel of alcohol, an audio output and a computer screen, you'll be with us on the journey :)
We'll have to come up with some live segments, like "Bottoms Up!" where we are drinking live and in sync with Forumites from around the world...
I'll have to think about it, but it should be a trip that everyone can participate in, whether live or virtually...
Maybe we can turn it into an online drinking game, where every time we take a picture of some stupid cheesy piece of Americana like a "World's Largest Pickle" or something, everyone playing on the Forum has to take a drink... We should hit one of these every 2 miles or so on Rt. 66...
Have to check it out a bit more, but for live road feeds out best bet will most likely be google hangout. I'll fart around looking at options this week. It definitely seems doable though
:hsugh:
Oh snap! You have no idea how tempting this is for me. I just don't see how this is going to be possible to get in on. Got so much stuff that will be coming to a head this summer that it's just not going to be possible for me.
%$^@#$@%^$^&#%^&*@!!!!!
Anyway, this is just the most awesome idea and I'm glad to see that folks are getting in on it. I'll be looking forward to seeing/hearing/reading about it. Hopefully in near realtime. I could see a documentary coming out of this too....
Good on ya, 7odd for starting this!
I'm bumping this thread since we have so many people online right now.
Come on, folks! Join us on the W/A Convoy Road Trip!!!
What are your estimates on fuel/rental/rooms so far?
Rooms I've not looked into. In truth in waiting to here where the finale will be, as that will dictate where we stay.
fuel depends on how many go. Rates on a 12 pass van are much greater than say, a ford edge suv. Top end right now is 2000 round trip. Low end 1200. Roughly. It looks lime it will average out to around 200 each no matter what happens.
rental prices are my concern. I said that up front. I planned this trip regardless of anyone else going. But basic pricing looks to be between 400-650 for a weeks rental.
We want YOU!

I agree completely. Also check your phone phucker!
first, post 1500. are my eyes back yet? no?
after some consideration. ive decided that we need to set some hard dates for the trip. by "hard" I don't mean 100% set in stone but good numbers we can work around.
trip will be july 16th through the 21st
leaving Illinois the morning of the 16th.
two overnight stops before arriving in la on the evening of the 18th.
sunday the 20th leave to head back to Illinois. pretty much a balls out drive to arrive back LATE on the 21st.
and im going to set a confirmation deadline of april 1st. why april fools? well, by the first of april it should be apparent to anyone wanting to go if they will actually be able to. by then those with time constraints(time off work) should know, and those with money constraints ($$doh)...yea. ah, and by "confirmation" I mean.."saying that barring absolute catastrophe you will be there(Illinois) heh, when I come to the airport to get you
by doing this, I can get the vehicle ideas together more clearly. in all honesty its difficult to tell people how much we will spend on gas for the trip without knowing how many people will be going. the variables there are too many. also another option im considering is if our group is in the 5-7 range of people, theres a good chance our transportation wont be rented but owned by me. I can honestly control the fuel economy better by having a vehicle that I can prep for this sort of trip beforehand, and myself and my brothers have discussed doing something like that recently. keep in mind im a car guy, almost more-so than a w/a guy.
and probly most importantly in my mind is lodging while in La dictates the april deadline. the reason for that is two fold. as a group, simplicity makes our lives easier. we will want to all be reserved at the same hotel. I truly have no idea just how far in advance we are going to need to reserve our rooms, but im pretty sure the sooner the better. the other reason is this.
in addition to this trip. I propose that those coming in from other parts of the west coast coordinate their lodging with ours. that way, even after the live event we are all returning to the same hotel. I know for myself personally, ive spent a lot of time interacting with all of you on the forum. but just the last couple days getting to know steve(litmasterIRL) I can tell talking in real life will be something that last's long before the live event....and long after.
and finally. going forward from here as we need to keep the forum at large with the info going on with the trip. I will be firing up the ol' blog. information tends to get buried in the mire of those talking back and forth in normal threads. the blog will give us a simple place to share pertinent info.
bonjoir!
