Bow and Arrows
A bow and arrows used as a weapon by Riley.[template=]sidepic

| label = Compound Hunting Bow[/template]
Appears in:
- Chapter 8 - Riley finds them in 'Sports and More' after the mission to the water works.
- Chapter 9 - Used to take down one in the store, and an arrow is used shot through one zombies leg, which carries on without noticing.
- Chapter 10 - Used by Riley when escaping the Arena. One is shot through a big ones eye, but it gets back up.
- Chapter 23 - Riley has more arrows, and uses her bow and arrow whilst in the hospital.
- In the cover art for chapter 23, the one with markings is holding an arrow. In 23-3 Riley shoots a bow and arrow at the one with markings and it catches it.
Specs:
- The one found in the shop is a compound hunting bow, not a competition bow.
- Almost silent.
- Arrows can be re-used, if they can be taken out if not broken.

What type of bow does she have?
-
We don't know. Presumably a hunting bow of some variety since it was found in a sporting goods store. Most sports stores carry compound bows. But since we aren't sure what it is she's carrying, we leave it at bow and arrow.
-
I think she said something about it not being the right type for compations but I'm not sure.
-
It's a compound hunting bow. She says in 8-3 at 13:50. Added it to the page.
-
if you look at the picture at the top of the page(the WA Themed Page) she clearly has the bow slung on her shoulder.
that should give us some idea as to what kind it is.
looks like a Long Bow to me.

Best I can find is from this forum conversation. The basic breakdown: A hunting bow is cheaply made compared to a target bow (competition bow). Target bows are longer from axle to axle (the wheels you typically see on top which help stabilize the arrow when drawn), and are better balanced to make targeting easier. Hunting bows get a better score in terms of quickly retargeting and allowing the hunter to track their target as its moving.

So, GD_Elite is right, based on his cited reference, the bow she found is a hunting compound probably much like the one below:

nikvoodoo is basically right in summarizing differences between a hunting compound and a competition compound, but as a former competitive archer myself, the bow she is trained on is most likely a competitive recurve since they are much more popular in competition shooting, and the only ones shot in the olypmics. this would look like the one drawn below.

if anyone is interested i can get into all the components on the recurve a little deeper, but unless asked i will leave it at this
