If you wanted to get some practice in, you could start a little bit away from john and make your way over to him due to the gunfire. That would give you the chance to introduce your character. Just an idea.
Here are some ideas that I got off the top of my head. Option 1: Jump into John's story and try to save him from the horde of zombies. Option 2: Go over near Gage and Helena's group. Walk the streets unaware of the Big One. Allow the group to spot you and bring you into the church. Option 3: Go to the police station because of all of the people/for ammo. Option 4: Be a captive at the Black Knight's base and David can release you Those are some good options, but if you don't like any of them, that is fine. You may choose your own or wait for what you think is the appropriate time to join.
ill try and join up with john at the hospital...i try and figure something out. though id like to get something rolling tonight and it looks like your the only one on
