At last, our favourite podcast about podcast has returned! Britt has finally unveiled We’re Not Dead 23. This also means the return of this blog, They’re Not Dead—a name has never seemed more appropriate. It’s been about two and half months since we have heard a new We’re Not Dead, so I am sure you are all as excited as I am.

Episode 23 included Britt (of course) and Nikvoodoo. It came as no surprise that Greg was a no-show, for that was often the case many months ago, but I respect that it is the result of his day job. The big star for this episode was Kevin Flood, voice of the ‘late’ Kalani. This episode was unlike others as it was not about any specific episode, but a discussion with Kevin Flood. Kalani’s death was discussed, as were several other elements of the finale, but the focus was on Kevin Flood and his story.

Prior to the We’re Alive season 2 finale, I was one of many who hated the character Kalani. I also was one of the many who swiftly converted to a Kalani fan after his heroic death. I, therefore, enjoyed this episode. The limelight was on Kevin Flood the entire time, as he shared his experiences with We’re Alive and future plans. It was fun to hear about the inner workings of We’re Alive a bit. Kevin was unable to give any spoilers, because Kc would kill him, but also because he is in the dark about just as much as us. His respect for the podcast showed in that aspect, it also showed because he stated that he was going to continue to be a listener of We’re Alive, which I am sure that is no surprise to anybody.

Kevin could not say anything about the mysterious “Hannah,” but he did share his opinions on several other matters, such as, if he thought Burt was dead. Kevin is with the many people who do think that Burt died. I agree that Burt has too much that he can still do and that was not the heroic ending that I would expect from a completely bad-ass character. The suspicion that Kalani could have survived was brought up too. It did not sound as if Britt, Nik, or Kevin agreed with this theory, but it is an excellent point that no one is truly dead in We’re Alive until you see the corpse. I think Kalani is dead, after all he crashed a helicopter full of fuel into a gas tanker, and then it exploded. The chances of survival for that are slim, but hey, anything can happen in fiction, especially in the world that Kc and cast have created. The contributions the cast have made are incredible and we cannot forget what this show would be, or rather not be, without them.

Why did people not ask more questions? I ask you this as a criticism. We had perhaps our last opportunity to ever have our questions answered by Kevin Flood. While it was a fun session of him telling his stories, there was so much more that could be said. Questions such as these would have yielded amazing stories: What impact did the character of Kalani have on you? How did you go about preparing yourself for the role of Kalani? How much did it mean to you to be able to be a part of the We’re Alive world? What has been your favourite experience? Next time a character dies and he/she is on We’re Not Dead, let us all ask more questions.

Kalani was never, nor will he ever be, one of my favourite characters. In the beginning, I did not like him at all. He was whiny and always seemed to have a problem with the Tower’s authority, and he just annoyed me. (Did I just describe Kelly too? I think so…) Even after the whole incident where he helped Angel take down a big one, I saw no improvement in his attitude. Quite simply, I hated him every moment he lived. As soon as he died, however, that all changed. I have grown a somewhat personal attachment to this podcast and the characters. Therefore, after he sacrificed himself in such an epic way, he was momentarily my second favourite character (after Pegs of course). That changed after I was thinking rationally again, but I did feel that it was an amazing way to go. All those emotions that I, and many others, felt at that moment are all due to the genius of Kc’s writing and Kevin’s acting.
Kevin Flood, you will be missed on the show. Thanks for playing a Kalani so well!

Now we all must eagerly await the launch of season 3 or for Britt to record another We’re Not Dead. I see that as unlikely, judging by her business of the last couple of months. As for my plans for writing: You can expect more chapters of Undead Knightmare, and possibly another story that I have been working on. I also have some plans for a couple of blog posts. These will not all be as frequent as I would like, but that is the tale when you are preparing for college.

Until then, my friends, Farewell!

Finally! The season two finale, it’s been out a couple of weeks now, but I think we can all agree that it is fantastic (spoken like Doctor Who #1)! WND 22 was awesome too, but I don’t think any of us are surprised by either of the previous statements.

This week we had Britt and Greg, along with the guests Nikvoodoo and Luna Guardian. I would like to express my surprise that Luna was a dude. He told me that he was a girl when I first met him and has had me fooled for three months. But like Nik said, at least this mystery is put to rest.

There was A LOT of episode discussion this time. It was an hour long finale – as should be expected. They discussed the many deaths, old and new questions, and theories.

The gas tanker was one of the things talked about, the one that was being driven up to the tower for the final boom. It was asked why the driver just didn’t back up as soon as he was being shot at. While I understand that it was never made into a big deal on WND, I feel like they were not giving the thought chance enough. In stories you have to see things from the character’s point of view. We – as well as the driver – know that Scratch is pretty much insane and if you disobey her she will pretty much tear your intestines out. If I were driving that tanker, I would much rather keep driving and have the plan fail rather than risk pissing Scratch off by not going according to plan. I posted a thread a little while back on how this scene reminded me of the battle of Helm’s Deep from The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. There are a lot of similarities and I was disappointed that none of the hosts were hard-core enough LOTR fans to make that comparison. They are almost too alike not to do that!

You may begin your pre-reminiscent tearing up now. Kalani’s death was obviously a big matter of discussion. Greg and others were saying how they felt no surprise when he died. I am calling capital silly pants on that. I can agree that his purpose was diminished since he is no longer the only chopper pilot, but he had so much more to give than some of our main characters. Look at Riley for instance: What is she to the tower? The drunk? At least Kalani could fly a helicopter and rescue half the tower (before it fell, that is). As soon as he died you knew that a lot of people were gonna die or get left behind because of lack of space on the helicopter. And I get that Riley is much more a main character, but I still think she is a bit useless. Kalani went from one of my least favourites to near the top of my list with his [act of] self-sacrifice, so I applaud you, Kalani.
Now if Kelly would just fall out of the helicopter. Hmm…

You’re probably wiping away those tears brought up by Kalani’s death. Or maybe not. How often have you teared up while listening during We’re Alive? If you answered more than once you are an emotional mess compared to the hard asses that hosts WND. I cry all the time during stories, whether it be movies, books, tv shows or even podcasts. I am a man who is in touch with his emotions and if someone dies or there is a sappy or emotional scene, I tear up. So I stand with you Luna. You may not be as bad as me about it, but I have found this show to pull on the heart strings a fair few times.

Is Burt dead? It was majority vote on WND that he was still alive, because Scratch said “Put him with the old man.” I feel like Burt is dead. No reason, I just feel like this is his end. We can only assume what she meant when she said that. Scratch is pretty young and she could see anybody as old. I mean, I see people in their late thirties as old, so who is to say what she views as old? Also, if it were Burt, we do not know if that is a corpse or living person this “living one” is being put next to. It is never safe to assume when Kc is writing the story, especially when things seem too obvious.

And that brings about the question Britt asked: “Who did Scratch get and why did she want them?” A question based more in assumption than anything. Who is to say that the person they found is who/what she wanted? I take it as she wanted the tower dead, and the tower is dead [Love live The Tower]. As for WHO they got, I would assume it is Angel, as many others do. We never actually “saw” Angel die, and he has not done anything big enough to warrant being killed off yet, so I see it as likely that they could find him in the rubble. But would Scratch not recognize him? She obviously knows him from somewhere, but I guess he was pretty roughed up so he could be unrecognizable.

Now, who is this Hannah? I do not think it could be the red head that was shot, because how in the heck would Kalani know that story already and be sure that this woman was “his Hannah”? Maybe he lost this Hannah at the old tower and he was trying to stop that from happening to other people. That statement could have meant a thousand different things and it scrambles my mind. But I guess if you were going to discuss it at all, it is best to do it around Nik, as he is the We’re Alive guru.

A question asked in many forms throughout the episode was “Where will the tower remnants go?” Where else in LA is safe? I agree with many on here that they will not be going to Fort Irwin. There are still too many questions in LA that need to be answered. Also, they are not even sure of the safety of the fort. The next step is going to be big. They are gonna want to stay close to search for survivors, but they need safety. I have a proposal, what if they go to the colony in desperation for safety? With these zombies and mallers running about, nowhere is safe. They know that the colony can offer safety from at least one of the two. They are not gonna be as welcomed as they were their first go, but what are their choices?

That raises the question: “Where is Durai?” It his highly speculated that he is either with the colony or the other tower. If he is with the colony and my theory that the tower remnants go back there holds true, that would cause a whole storm of trouble. But I see it as unlikely that he is there, because the tower could not make radio contact at that distance, but somehow the mallers were listening in on the tower’s talk. The mallers would have to be close enough to hear the tower, but also still be able to contact their leader. Unless the mallers and Durai have been out of contact for a while, it is impossible that he be there. I have no theory on where he is, but I know when we find out it is going to be epic.

We finally found out if Pippin was a spy or not! Unfortunately, I was wrong. I was sticking up for the guy, but it turns out he was seeking to make me look foolish by being a bad guy working as a spy for the mallers. That makes me glad the little bastard was shot, but it also raises the old question of “who was the shooter?” There are so many mysteries in this story, I am beginning to lose track.

And for one last little thing Nik said. He said that when he pictured the wall safe in Locked and Loaded, it was a 2x2x2. Which is not enough to hold an rpg, so it was obviously bigger than that which surprised him. I agree that I pictured a small safe too, but I have also seen gun safes and they are rather large. My family owns no guns, so I cannot imagine a safe in a wall, but the ones I have seen at stores were plenty big enough to hold an rpg.

Speaking of Nik, you have to give him some credit for making an awesome reference to the horocruxes and Nagini from Harry Potter. It was in context to Scratch and her hostages. I want to keep this as spoiler free as possible when it comes to Harry Potters, so I will leave it at that.

It was an amazing season 2 discussion and I look forward to a break full of equally excellent reviews on old chapters. Thanks for all the good times Britt and (sometimes) Greg! I’m saying this as a farewell because this may be my last They’re Not Dead for a while. It will depend on how busy my senior year is and how these podcasts will be done, because I imagine they will not be the same as they were now that they are reviewing info that is already known. But I will be beginning a new blog (or should I say journals now?) featuring a story I’ve been writing for a while now. It is a medieval zombie tale, so look forward to it!

And thank you to We're Alive, We're Not Dead, and everyone here on the forums for one of the most memorable summers of my life. This one is not a farewell, but the summer is over for me.:(

Hey everyone! First I must apologize for being super late on this one. I have no set schedule on when I try to get these blogs written by, but I try not to be a week late. I guess since Britt was pretty late with this week’s episode, it is okay.

I was noticing this beeping the entire podcast. I kept thinking that someone had messaged in the chatbox, but every time I checked I realized it was just in the podcast. I think someone was chatting while recording. And towards the end I was hearing this high pitch ringing. I know that the older you are, the less you hear of high pitches so it probably went unheard by a lot of people. I am relatively young compared to a lot of people on the forums. But I kept thinking I was near a horcrux or something. (Part 2 was awesome right!?!)

I do not even know what to say about Greg being back. He is actually there as often as a teenage girl is in a good mood, which is not often. I have said it all before, he has been a better co-host and I enjoy it when he is there. Too bad he is a busy man. And if you will all remember something he said, he told Britt that he does not really like to think about what might happen. Which is a relatable thought for me, and I gained respect for him on that. Some people spend far too much whining about how the show has become predictable, but if people would stop trying to predict every little thing, then they would be surprised a lot more. I know this may be difficult for some people, but it has always been the way I watch movies or read books. I always stay in the moment and have never tried to predict an ending. In fact, We’re Alive is the only thing I ever give thought to what might happen next.

Nikvoodoo was also on this week, as he is every end of chapter. Again he showed that he is a super genius and wowed us with his knowledge of the show. He knows the show best out of all the people I know on the forums. If you have not read his blog or listened to his predictions on We’re Not Dead, I strongly suggest you do so. There is not much I can say about him though, he was a good guest and the few predictions he made were solid. He gave me a lot to think about for this season finale.

Episode discussion and theories were really awesome this time. Since we are coming up on chapter 24, the season 2 finale, there was a lot to talk about. A show as unpredictable and fantastic as We’re Alive could go a great many different directions, and We’re Not Dead approached some of the more interesting twists it could take. But more importantly they talked about 23-3, which is why everyone listened to We’re Not Dead this week.

We’re Not Dead pointed out something, yet again, that I had noticed. The radio stations being possible chapter references, I never thought of that. Nik said that it is just channels and not references, but I thought it was interesting all the same.

When Britt was doing the overview of the chapter I could not help but notice how leisurely that they skipped over the fact that zombies were using the elevators. I know that they know the zombies are smarter than they originally thought, but is it really old hat now? Until then, they haven’t actually seen them use technology. The idea that they know how to operate an elevator, to me, would be very scary. And does this prove that they can read now? It is one thing to know how to push a button, but it is something completely different for the zombies to know which button to press to get to the top floor. Also, it was not even the smart zombie we all know and hate, “Paul”. Have the regular biters really advanced so much in the few months they have been infected? In the beginning they could not even open an unlocked door.

Are “Paul” and Ink really different people, or one man? We know that Bill Roberts was supposed to have a split personality and it is theorized that he is Ink, so I think that it is possible that he is both. Plus, there was what was mentioned on We’re Not Dead. The man that attacked the tower was shot in the hand, and the man in the hallway had a deformed hand. Then we raise another question, the zombie at the tower, did Michael not refer to him as Randy? So either “Paul” and Ink would have to be different people, because Michael would have recognized this Randy character the first time he met “Paul” in the hallway, or the man that attacked the tower is neither of them. And I have seen a lot of theories going about him being one of the two. Not to mention, he would have to be incredibly fast to run from the tower to the hospital in the time that went down. This subject was discussed pretty thoroughly in We’re Not Dead. In the end, I feel we have too much unspecific information to make any good theories on this. We need something more definitive before this could be more properly discussed, which may only come in a conclusion came about by a character who has actually seen them.

They were talking about why the zombies might be “attacking” the hospital. I believe this has been a subject in past episodes as well, and I am going to agree with one of the theories made then. A lot of people seem think that the zombies were all there to attack, but were they really? They had no way of knowing they would be there. But the theory was made that they were just looking for a new home. With the arena gone, the zombies have nowhere to hangout. The zombies may be just looking for a new place to make base at, and where better than that hospital? It is obviously huge and we can now see that someone was using it to make a “little ones”, so it has more than one use for them. It’s not the only theory out there, but it is the one that makes the most sense to me.

Now for the biggest question on everybody’s mind, who is Saul going to give away? This was the big cliff hanger for 23-3, and the most exciting discussion on We’re Not Dead because of it. Some people think that Saul is bad now, but others think there is still some possibility of good. And it was all discussed. The most popular theory discussed was he is going to give away Pegs. But, as Nik pointed out, he would never be able to go back to the tower. Not only would he be seen as a criminal, but Michael would destroy him. Some think he might try to give away Angel because of the mystery history that Angel and Scratch had. But Michael is the only one who knows about that, and even he does not really know. That is more of a dramatic irony sort of thing. I personally agree with the Saul lover theory that Nik brought up. He is only trying to trick Scratch. I think that Saul is acting irrationally, but he has done enough good things that he is deserving of our trust for now. He could simply talk to Pegs and Michael about it, and they could make a plan to make the exchange without anybody being taken by the Mallers. It would be difficult, but Saul has been with us too long for me to believe he has gone to the dark side.

Overall, this was a very good episode. It had really good episode discussion and the theories mentioned were outstanding. It made me, and anyone else who listened, really crave for the finale. The wait for the end may be unbearable, but it really is great to hear all of it discussed so well. It is a little bit like watching a movie trailer before seeing a really good movie in theatres. You get a good taste of what might happen, but it pumps you up for when it finally all goes down.

For all those who still have not yet abandoned the forums for the break (and golly, I hope you don’t),

Hello everybody and happy [belated] 4th of July to Americans! Now that I’m finally done with blowing things up, I think it is time that tell you what I think of Episode 20 of We’re Not Dead, and to be quite honest, I am not excited about this. I am a big fan of We’re Not Dead, and I don’t like speaking ill of it. I did not really like this episode (although I have listened to it three times to write this blog).

Now before you start raging at me for saying that, hear me out. There were multiple aspects to it that made it kinda boring. First off, our friendly neighbourhood Greggy was missing again. There was a mystery woman guest named “Michelle”. And there a couple of informational errors that are bugging me.

Let me explain:

Greg was gone again! It wasn’t mentioned why this time, so I and the rest of his fans are flustered at this because he only just got back from E3. He said it himself, the only thing he does is get on for an hour and talk. To me that doesn’t sound like much responsibility, but Greg is a heartbreaker and likes to toy with his fans with his crazy life.

Now as for the mystery guest. Do not mistake me here, I accept that not every We’re Alive fan is going to be from the forums and we have a lot of lurkers. I just don’t enjoy it as much when one of the guests was not a forum member I know. And if you do not know, I am on the forums a lot and know a lot of the active members. So I just found it rather curious that I was unfamiliar with this woman. I am not going to say that Britt should not have lurkers on, but I do think that forum goers are a more suitable form of guests since a lot of the discussion on We’re Not Dead includes content of the forums and its members. Although, she was enjoyable and seemed really excited to be on, so I think she needs to become a forum member so I do not have to feel mean for having these thoughts.

The informational error that I mentioned was made by j0be. He was sharing why he like the idea of shooting the cloth rope back up with Riley’s bow. I am actually quite a good archer, and while I have never tried to fire with something tied to my arrow, I am fairly certain that it would not work. Arrows are very sensitive beings while in the air, and the slightest change in variables (like weight) can make them go way off course. I understood what he was saying, and that is not what I found incorrect. What I found wrong was when he said that the three main types of bows are composite, compound and crossbow. That is not true; the three types of bows would be better classified as longbow, compound and recurve. The crossbow is not really a bow. I am not an expert in this field, but I have knowledge of it.

With all that said, I like it when j0be comes on. I think he is funny and he seems to be the laid back listener that pays attention to detail in the episodes really well. It is admirable quality that makes him a good guest. I will admit that him being married and having two kids kinda throws me off. Here on the forums you grow a mental image of people, and I had him imagined as a teenager long before the “Dispel the Mental Images” thread.

As usual the episode discussion was good. The We’re Alive episode they were talking about was actually pretty simple, so there wasn’t much to cover. The theories discussion was especially good this week though. I really like the theory that was made that Burt and Angel are going to use the remaining blankets to go to the floor below them. We’re Not Dead has always provided excellent ideas like that for me to think on. And the listener mail was excellent. It is my favourite part and I love hearing what everybody has to say. This week there were no wacky questions for Britt and guests to answer, but I am just happy that Britt is doing it again.

If you remember, last week we had the ad-lib session clip with the We’re Alive crew and Britt was the only one voting for the Jim Gleason blooper. Well, this week she got it. As to be expected of our perfect Jim Gleason, there was only one mess up. I am not going to try to explain to you why it was funny; you will have to check that out for yourself. It is always interesting to hear these people we have built up as bad ass zombie killers, cracking their selves up.

From a small basement in the middle of Kansas, I bid you all adieu.

Disclaimer: I will not be talking about the We’re Alive podcast. I will be talking about the We’re Not Dead podcast. There will be spoilers of We’re Not Dead and consequently, We’re Alive spoilers may be included. Read with caution if you have not listened to either of the podcasts.

Okay. If you missed episode 19, you missed a lot. There was a hilarious script, extras straight from We’re Alive, and Greg was stripping. This episode was another long one. Which is a good thing, a lot more bang for your buck. But that phrase always confuses me, that means someone out there has excess bang and it selling for discount prices! I must give credit to Morte Ambulante for that joke, because he would not be happy with me if I did not. Anyway, it was another good episode, now here is why I think so.

At long last Greg is back! For the past two episodes he has been gone. He says he was working, but he was at E3. To me “work” is a word that brings unpleasantness to mind, and E3 sounds like a ball of fantasticness. But I am uber happy that he has returned. Now that we have our Britt-Greg combo back, I can see a huge increase in quality of the podcasts. Greg seemed in a much better mood than he has in past episodes. And by that I mean, he was nicer, but retained his Greg-ness.

This time there were two guests: Pikepaw and Leedo2502. I am really loving this four person discussion thing Britt has been doing. Ever since she started it the discussions have been far better. And I must compliment Britt too, this episode she was putting a lot more of her ideas into it. I’ve said in the past that I thought she didn’t talk enough on her thoughts, but I take that back. But anyways, both were fun guests to have. They knew their We’re Alive details and they had me laughing out loud, and I ask no more than that.

As to be expected from these action packed finale chapters of We’re Alive, the episode discussion took most of the time from this hour long episode. I am grateful Britt has now given people permission to interrupt with their comments. I know it was not unheard of before, but now that she has given the okay, I do not think people feel rude and do it a lot more. I have listened to some past episodes where it was a long period of Britt recapping the episode and everyone was silent as they listened. I thank whatever god you praise that people speak up now. This episode I heard a lot of what others thought of the happenings in 23-1. A couple of the things they said, I hadn’t even noticed the first time I listened. With four people there, someone was bound to know the small details. I had not even noticed that Kelly ran out firing her gun, nor Michael’s reaction.

On a side note. This is the second time that it was mentioned, but I’m still honestly surprised that she hasn’t seen Lord of the Rings. It just seems like something most gamers know. I understand that it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m a huge Lord of the Rings fan and it just kinda surprised me. And here is where I’ll explain the Greg stripping thing at the beginning. Apparently it was hot in his home and shared with everyone that he took off his pants. Not only verbally, but posted a picture of it. If you wanna see Greg in his banana boxers, you can find it on Facebook. Not sure where, but I remember seeing it posted on my wall.

What has happened to the listener mail? That’s what I wanna know. It is one of my favourite parts of We’re Not Dead, and it has been gone for two weeks. Plus, with all these guests, the mail would be so much better. We could hear the wacky answers of not only Britt and Greg, but forum goers we all know and love too!

There was also a script, written by Banvillon, titled “An Itch to Scratch”. It’s a story on how a romance between Riley and Scratch could have down. The script itself was good, but what made it funny was the actors playing the parts. If you didn’t know, Pikepaw has a radical voice for Riley. I’m not a fan of Scratch, at all. And Riley just kinda has been pissing me off of late, but I still enjoyed the script.

Now for the We’re Alive extras! It was an option between some bloopers, Jim Gleason messing up, and some adlibbing done by Datu, Burt, and Viktor. While Britt wanted the Jim Gleason mess up, and so did I, Greg, Pikepaw and Leedo chose the adlibbing. It was hilarious! The things they said were so out of character, it was just funny to see these non-existent sides. If you have not listened to We’re Not Dead, I strongly recommend listening, if not for Britt’s wonderful hosting, but you get excellent bonus content like this.

As for other We’re Not Dead news. Britt is working on a new site for We’re Not Dead. It’s going to have all sorts of new goodies that can be seen and discussed here or Britt’s website. I recently made a banner for the new website. You’ll have seen it if you are following We’re Not Dead on Twitter, but here is my work.

Episode 18 of We’re Not Dead. It’s reviewin’ time! I’m watching Sherlock Holmes, so I’m going to do my best to not type in old timey British, but no promises.

It is week two of Greg being gone and, I’m surprised to see myself type this, I am beginning to miss him. I love the serious episode discussion that Britt and guests have been bringing without him, but there has been a certain lack-luster to the episodes. These last two have been extremely informative and the guests have been entertaining. I do miss the many laughable moments in the episodes though. Lately I have begun to notice how good a team Britt and Greg make. They are two halves to a brilliant podcast. Without Greg the show becomes incredibly serious, and very guest dependent. Not to insult Britt, she just can’t do it all herself, nor can anyone. And without Britt, the show would be ramblings of a madman. They need each other.

Since this episode was actually kind of uneventful, there isn’t much I can say about it. Although, the discussion was excellent. I learned new theories and I was once again forced to change my mind on some long running ideas I had, but I’ll speak more of that later.

Ra1th and Nikvoodoo were guests this time. I like this, they express the friendship you can gain with someone on the forums really well. They talk and joke like real friends. I think that is a good thing because anybody who listens to We’re Not Dead and is not a member of the forums, can see how joining can be a good thing, not only because the episode discussion, but because you can gain a whole new group of friends. And this is where I give a shout out to my bro Osiris!

I enjoy it when Nik comes on to discuss his predictions. He is very logical about the things he says, and that makes his predictions all the more knowledgeable. His predictions are very well thought out and he thinks of things that most overs never even consider. He does his job so well that when he got four of his predictions wrong this chapter, he was very surprised and mad about it. It’s good to have him on We’re Not Dead because then he can express the things he would want to say in more detail, and give his feedback on the episodes and his previous predictions.

As for Ra1th. I’ve found the last couple times he has come on rather fun. He speaks more like a fan rather than a professional, but he has the intellect to deserve a spot on We’re Not Dead. I would also like to say that I don’t notice his obsession with the word “like”. He had to point out to me for me to see it and all you haters out there should just get over it. His posse consists of admins, and you would be wise not to mess with those that have God’s power.

Ra1th’s Saul Rant was my favourite part of this episode. This is the part of the episode discussion that changed my mind that I mentioned before. He made some extremely good points on how Saul is being an idiot. I have never been a big fan of Saul, but I find myself not liking him at all now. I completely agree with Ra1th about Saul.

Lastly Britt showed the many voices of Pippin’s death. I found it funny, morbid I know, but I did. I like it when they get “behind the scenes” stuff from We’re Alive. It is a fan podcast after all, and any true fan would find that entertaining. Send more goodies like that to Britt, KC!

A pretty uneventful episode, like I said before. Enjoyable, but uneventful. I look forward to Greg’s return and the next episode.

Good(insert time of day) everybody!

Disclaimer: I will not be talking about the We’re Alive podcast. I will be talking about the We’re Not Dead podcast. There will be spoilers of We’re Not Dead and consequently, We’re Alive spoilers may be included. Read with caution if you have not listened to either of the podcasts.

(I know episode 18 came out today, but bear with me as I try to catch up. It will be consistent in the future, I promise)

Hey there good people We’re Alive! You are now witnessing my first review of a We’re Not Dead episode, episode 17 if you did not know. I am in a good mood because I am listening to some tasty techno and just watched X-Men: First Class, so you are in for a nice upbeat treat tonight.

I would like to start off by saying I rather enjoyed this one. Greg wasn’t there, but I would miss an episode for E3 too. We lost our main comedian there, but I enjoyed the break from it. It’s nice to hear a more serious episode every once in a while.

There were three guest this week. And I think that Britt needs to do that more often, because isn’t that what the show is about? Showing We’re Alive from a fan’s point of view and their takes on it? The guest were, if I remember correctly, AdrianHD, Mush_Rooms, and Beezball. I was really impressed by this setup. It wasn’t the celebrities of the forums like Nikvoodoo or Ra1th, which I don’t have a problem with because I understand that they are fans like the rest of us. It just seems incredibly different to have some regular forum members come on, because it seems that admins are completely different class of people. So I think we (or at least I) hold their words to a different level of importance, like they clearly must be better and therefore know better. Anyway, I have talked to Adrian in the chatbox and played Halo with Mush_Rooms, and I find it fascinating to see a more knowledgeable side of them. It really changes how I thought of them (not that it was bad in the first place).

The episode and theory discussion this week was outstanding. For example, since the beginning I was sure that the rat was going to be Kelly. I thought I had it all figured out in my head that she was the only sensible person to have done it, but of course We’re Not Dead shines new light on the matter and flips my whole mind around. I listened to it and literally gasped as my old ideas were ripped apart (and my non-fan friend looked at me confused). Our dear friend Adrian gave his reasoning for thinking the rat is Riley, and I have to say, he converted me. It was good to hear what he had to say in such an open and clear way, rather than be buried amongst the hundreds of posts in the “Who’s the Rat” thread. I applaud you Adrian.

I was disappointed this week by the lack of listener mail. Those questions are always the kind of whacky theoretical questions that you throw at your friends because it is interesting to hear what others have to say. Britt never explained why she didn’t do it, but whatevs. I appreciate Adrian giving a question though. “What celebrity would you bring with you have with you in a z-world?” It’s was the kind of question that I could really get into, because I am a huge movie fanatic. I did find it gross that they were even considering Lady Gaga though. I’ve never heard her music, but I imagine it would be unpleasant. As for the “Which video game character would you take with you?” thread that they were talking about, that was me who made it, and it is always awesome to have your work talked about in such a public way.

I don’t really understand the Gatekeeper contest, but maybe that’s because I don’t hate the Gatekeeper. He was just too minor of a character, Kelly or Kalani have done more to be hated than him. It is a neat idea from ComradeNarf, but I feel that there were so many better ones they could have done. Like the mock-ads contests idea, I thought that sounded awesome. However, I say all this and I am probably still going to work on something to enter. Final side note: I think it is hilarious how Britt can’t say ComradeNarf’s name correctly, think Russia Britt!

This may be one of my favourite episodes in the end. It definately connected with the fans better than any of the others have, since it was just focussing on the fans talking about the episodes. Which, We’re Not Dead can sometimes drift off from doing that. This episode felt shorter than the others, they didn’t really spread their topics and it seemed like a very simple episode. It was informative, funny, and relatable, which is everything a podcasts like this needs though. Fantastic episode and I hope lessons are took from it in how well it turned it out for future episodes, and I am talking about the numerous guests aspect of it.

I hope Greg comes back soon so we can get our sarcastic co-host back, but not too soon so he can fully enjoy E3.

I love you all dearly,

Disclaimer: I will not be talking about the We’re Alive podcast. I will be talking about the We’re Not Dead podcast. There will be spoilers of We’re Not Dead and consequently, We’re Alive spoilers may be included. Read with caution if you have not listened to either of the podcasts.

I have only been a fan of We’re Alive and We’re Not Dead for about a month now, however in that time I have come far. I listen to the latest We’re Alive as soon as they come out, I practically live on the forums, and look forward to We’re Not Dead as much as any of the We’re Alive episodes. That said I think it is time Britt and Greg are critiqued, just as they critique our favourite audio drama. They have had the freedom to say whatever they want and do whatever they want with only silent judgement for too long and they need some nice old fashioned reviewing. My goal is not to insult or change their ways, simply to express what their fans think of the show. However, this time I am going to stick to just the hosts of the show and not any episode in particular. Let’s get started, shall we?

First up, is Britt. She is widely popular, not only because she is a beautiful young lady who plays video games, but because she can hold a knowledgeable and open-minded conversation about We’re Alive.

I have to give her some props on how well she handles the sometimes creepy crushes people have on her here on the forums though. While a lot of women would be rude and tell these people to shove off, Britt keeps to her kindness and lets these people fawn over her silently.

But I digress.

Every week she comes fully prepared with a full recap of the episodes that are so good, sometimes I am presented with facts that I did not even notice while listening to the actual podcast. The goal of We’re Not Dead is to not only give a fans perspective of the We’re Alive, but also provide comedy as most podcasts like this do. And she does both well. While she may not be the one cracking all the jokes and usually just goes along with something already said, she keeps me laughing. Her laughter is contagious. Her occasional joke usually has me looking like a fool as I am laughing out loud in the middle of my Spanish class. And when she is the subject of many of Greg’s numerous jokes, she handles it well and takes no insult, which gives me permission to laugh without guilt.

And as for the informational half of We’re Not Dead, I like how she does not stick to just her opinions and theories and allows the podcast to remain the forum’s voice. She will give her view on some parts, but for the most part will stick to what other fans think. There are many threads of theories on the forum pages, and in these threads there are many more pages of posts. So, most of us do not have the time or the patience to see them all. But Britt always provides theories, made by the fans, which I have not heard. For instance, it never even occurred to me that Riley might be a lesbian, but she brought up the theory on We’re Not Dead and it gave me something to think about and look for in We’re Alive.

All in all, I really do not have anything bad to say about her. I do feel that she could give more of her personal predictions for We’re Alive and not just whether she agrees or disagrees with others. And maybe even fight back against all the crap Greg gives her, start making more jokes at his suspense and not just take it. I know he is kidding, but still…

Now for Greg, I am not as much of a fan of Greg Miller. I am not going to go as far as to say I am not a fan though. I know he is just the co-host, so I do not expect him to meet the same standards as Britt. While she has to prepare and make sure the show goes smoothly, he is just there to throw in his opinion when he feels like it and, as he put it, “make the one liners”. I think he is hilarious and, when he talks about his theories, he is quite clever. But I feel that he focuses too much on making jokes. Sometimes his jokes can come off as crude, which does not bother me, but I have been in the chatbox with people who do not like it.

In the earlier episodes of We’re Not Dead he was much more insightful in the comments about We're Alive, but as the episodes have progressed he has become more of the comedian, rather than a voice of the forums. I will give him credit though that when he does talk about We’re Alive he is very smart. He addresses the major points and provides perceptive comments and theories. But most of the time it is just “stupid blind girl!” But I have listened to other podcasts he has been in, and I accept that it is just his personality to be “the funny guy”.

Given that he and I are two completely different people, it does not surprise me that I find myself disagreeing with him a lot. I am a vegetarian, he loves chicken wings; I am in high school, he is twenty-something. But I do find that his being a gamer and being really funny is enough to keep me interested in what he is saying. My advice for Greg is to keep to the show and get back to the seriousness he had in the beginning. I do not want the comedy to stop, but I want to hear more about what he thinks about We’re Alive in a serious way. I am enough of a fan that I think of him as a celebrity; it was pretty cool to hear him find my name so funny.

I love We’re Not Dead, and I hope the episodes keep coming. I am not trying to change the show’s personality; I am just trying to spread one man’s opinion of it.
