This thread is to talk about this very awesome zombie book series Day By Day written by the one and only J.L. Bourne. I know there were lots of fans from the other forum so I decide to start this up. Do you have any theories for the next book? Speculations?

#1 Day By Day: Armageddon (excerpt Chapter 1 (http://tacticalunderground.us/JLBourne_website/assets/DbDAexcerpt.pdf))
#2 Day By Day: Beyond Exile
#3 Day By Day: Shattered Hourglass (http://www.amazon.com/Day-Armageddon-Shattered-Hourglass/dp/1451628811/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1303166770&sr=8-1) (Amazon pre-order) - Release date: Nov 15, 2011 (?) --will be available on Kindle and paperback--

For those of you who aren't familiar with the series...
DBD is a first-person zombie survival story written by a real army guy in journal format. An off-duty military officer catches wind that something might not be right about strange occurrences in the world and doesn't report in when his unit is called. The zombie apocalypse begins to ravage the world and the dead wander the streets. The main character is successfully able to live quietly in his fortified house and eventually discovers one of his neighbors survived as well. In a last ditch effort to nullify the zombie hoards, the government launches a plan that forces them out of hiding and having to find a way to survive out in the open. Unfortunately they soon learn that the governments plan backfired.

The author is not afraid of going into graphic details. It'll have you "ewwing" and "ughing" and may even teach you something you didn't know! There's military jargon and slang thrown around but he does well in keeping it to the minimum so civilians can understand it.

I've been keeping tabs on the progress of his third book via Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/OfficialJLBourne)/Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/JLBourne). As of last week he's up to 73,000 words and counting! He recently launched a "teaser" video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95VKoLawk6Y)on youtube based on the book. It's corny and I'm glad the books are better.

Sweet! I didn't know he was making another one. Can't wait! I think it was you who recommended me the books originally. They are so engrossing I pretty much read them both in a night. I'll have to re-read them. Off to watch that video now!

I read these books just before I started listening to We're alive, I can't wait for the next one. Best zombie media with "Shamblers" I have ever seen. I wonder what the chances of a guest appearance from Mr. Bourne would be?

I can hardly wait. I just finished listening to them both again. The DBD books are written very well, very authentic in style. The author is active military and he puts a great deal of technical realism into the story. IIRC from his posts on another forum is that the delays between books have been due to his deployments overseas. Guess his laptop can't always go with him where he goes.

I have to agree the Day-by-day armageddon books by JL Bourne are AMAZING!! They might be my favorite zombie books. But he is the reason how I found about We're Alive, he posted on his facebook and obviously I heeded he recommendation. I'm so glad he did! Couldn't recommend this series enough.

The audio book was read by Jay Snyder. When listening to the first two books, his voice just became the main character. I was drawn into these books and both were great adventures. Man , can't wait for the next one..

Wow. I just finished the first book. It was great. I know that those of you that live in bigger cities have things written about your areas all of the time. But, being from South Texas (the Corpus area specifically) it was awesome to read such a well written story set here... About one of my favorite subjects no less. The last cool thing set down here that I can remember was The Legend of Billy Jean"
This book was freaking awesome. Can't wait to read the next one!

He is also one of my favorite authors and I found out about WA from his FB page. Also He just moved from DC to VA beach, which is AWESOME because hopefully he can do some book signings or who knows I might run into him at the range, where I will ask him to sign a target or something lol.

I really enjoyed DBDA. Fantastic fun. I've read it twice now... as for Beyond Exile... I've noted that it is swinging toward a 'proper form' of storytelling. While I still enjoyed it, I didn't quite feel the same pull that I felt reading the first book. I'm really hopeful that he has stayed faithful to the first book in Shattered Hourglass (remember when it was Into Dragon's Maw?). Either way, I'll still be picking it up and taking a day off work to read it.

Just finished Beyond Exile last night. Had to stay up and read through to the last page. My reading time was sporadic but I still got it done in a couple of days. It was great. A little suprised at the direction it is taking. Can't wait for the next one!

DBDA 3 is going to be a bit different than the first 2 I hear. It may be from the point of view, not only of Kilroy, but also John and Tara. Dunno how I feel about that one.O_o

That may be it.
Don't know if that will be as good as the previous 2 (DBDA being the favorite) but I'll still buy it. If for no other reason than I want to follow Kilroy's story, even if it isn't first person pov any more.:zombie:

Just to give everyone a heads up, there's book out called: Day by Day Armageddon: Origin to Exile (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1451633033/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_3?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=1439176671&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=176P2NR3JMC2G0PD49YR). This is NOT the new book (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1451628811/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=1439176671&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=176P2NR3JMC2G0PD49YR), it's merely the first two books rolled into one. Some fans/friends bought it by mistake because it seems Amazon didn't label the title properly for pre-orders. Oh, and the release date's been pushed back to June 1, 2012.....

I have more bad news folks. I just checked Amazon for the release date for Shattered Hourglass and it is now showing it is to be released in 2013 not 2012! :( The Navy must be riding him like a rented mule. I asked on the DbDA Facebook page what the hold up is but have yet to get a response. If I do get an answer I will be sure to share it here as I am eagerly awaiting the third book along with all of you guys.

That blows ass! I read the nook versions of the first two books... I'm probably going to get a hard copy since some of the maps and diagrams were a bit small.

Well, after hearing about these books on the forums I decided to check them out, I blew through the first one pretty quickly and loved it. I've started reading the second book and I'm enjoying it as well, noticed some of the other posts on this thread saying the third book is being delayed quite a bit, that's never a good sign...but, I'm hoping for the best
