something that has been irking me since i've heard it is that exchange between Lizzy and Riley about the Sweat Bottle Experiment and the playback video they watched. (Chapter 7 Pt 2)

the two women are watching what Lizzy had filmed...
and Riley says: "Stop! Right here, Look! They're drooling--like dogs."
Lizzy: "They do that; their hungry."
R: "Not like this, they're dripping onto the ground. I had a dog once who i didn't neuter and he did the same thing when he was around another dog in heat."
L: "It's something like the musk. Zombies and sex don't seem to go together, if you ask me."
R: "Sweat makes pheromones, and those bottles were filled with them, male and female. Attraction starts with their nose and seems to end with their teeth."

so what of it? is this just a passing conclusion or is there more to it? Do zombies revert to basic animal instinct? if they aren't hungry (at the time), then biting them is a result of a desire/need/instinct to Pro-Create?
(maybe their zombie 'bits' don't function anymore? sorry for the crassness)

if this is nothing new, i get it. it's not a 'game changer' but it has been bugging me how it was seemingly glossed over. but i can understand it just being the cause of the success of the sweat jars and nothing more.

i agree. i'm also wondering about the Zombie End-Game.
say they turn everybody and get food for a while.
are they even capable of offspring? is it in their best interest to not kill everyone so there's people makin' babies somewhere?

Interesting that you should mention procreation. Seems like THAT'S how the infection procreate; via bites.

On a slightly different angle, I often wondered what Martin (The guy Kalani met in the arena) and Samantha meant by the zombies wanting to PLAY and HAVE FUN with their captives.

This would explain why the zombie outbreak is something that hasn't been seen before. They cause there own extinction, then the original infection lie dormant until it can infect another species that is susceptible to it. It only infects humans this time around. If it was able to infect everything then all life would go extinct and so would the infection agent.

Ooh, what if Samantha is the birth mother of the little ones, and Ink is their father?!

If the sounds in the arena are to be believed, I don't think it's possible. I think if you go back and listen you'll hear the little ones milling about. I haven't been back in a long time so who knows if I'm right.

For the most part you've been pretty cot damn accurate about this kind of thing, nik. I'd trust your memory over mine any day of the week.

So maybe the last time this stuff was around the Earth had the "Permian Extinction"? Lots of theories about what caused it but no real question of IF it happened. Just HOW. Maybe Kc is putting his hat in the ring with a zombie organism/outbreak way back when...

Kinda fits in with the geological theories several have put forth (but none as good as Redshirt's (http://www.zombiepodcast.com/forum/showthread.php?4020-I-think-I-have-it-guys-A-good-quot-Zombie-quot-Plague-origin-theory), methinks)

Ok, sorry to derail the zombie sex thread.... :hsugh:

During that time period, there were lots of mentions of "runners", "jumpers" and "smart ones" so you may be right. However, I'm not entirely sure if I'm right with this theory, but the mention of the runners, jumpers and smart ones seemed to disappear once the little ones first started appearing.

Maybe, if my theory about Samantha and others being impregnated by Ink thus giving birth to the little ones is inaccurate, then maybe there has been some sort of cross-breeding going on - and the reason why some people are captured/taken is because of some quality in their genetics which aids the procedure. Datu was bitten, Tanya was half-bitten (Saul is too badass to turn into a biter) - maybe that is Ink's way of gaining control over those individuals whose DNA/genetics are important. Obviously he can't have these people held prisoner anymore since the Arena was destroyed. A tactic change on his behalf perhaps?

Guys, believe me, that behemoth on this chapter's cover art has a huge banana-shaped woody. It's not in his pocket because he's not wearing pants. I'm telling you, Micheal has a very interesting reason for not talking about his Water pumping station ordeal. If the behemoth was originally an Eastern Bay inmate, then the water works could have reminded him of prison showers. Micheal was just a dropped soap away from unspeakable horror.

I'll show myself the door. :hsugh:

The Little Ones remind me of the Lickers from Resident Evil 2 aswell. (Minus the tongue, of course)

I don't think anyone in their right mind would, lol.
Strangely enough I have also been pondering over the things like Ink and them possibly raping the humans to proceate. Though some peoples ideas on such matters a disgusting as I have found online. They say that zombies focus on their primal merges when they are changed and the ones my mind comes upper with as mammals primal erges are along the lines of these. Eat, drink, sleep, procreate(sex) and to play which could be connected to sex. Although yes, those with a higher immunity would be good people to procreate with. You'd likely get a higher classed creature from the mixture of genes.

Some of the last few posts about Michael and the behemoth made me flush. I felt really bad for him and you guys as well. It made me think , "What the fudge did I walk myself into?"

And that's about as smutty as I'll get while I'm still sober...

I think she compared them to dogs in heat, or something along them lines, though I don't think any further explanation came out about it...

Yea, because they told Michael and he was happy about the observation, but i don't get how its useful.

I'm sure there was some sort of implied theory involved, but it was so long ago I haven't really paid it much thought

I bet there was quite a stench once the water rationing was enforced at the Tower in Season 1. No wonder Ink turned up personally.

Exactly! Well it might be one of his reasons, it is hard to say. What I wanna know is why he hasn't attacked the Miller's like her has the towers? Or has he?

To quote Burt, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend"

Maybe he was waiting for an attack between the Mallers and the Tower, thus weakening both factions before he moved in.

P.S. I love any post where I get the opportunity to quote Burt's lines.

"We will spare your lives. Just walk away."

I see the drooling as the same as sharks with blood in the water. Maybe why Ink hasn't done too many straight up attacks. They have refered to the Zeds as being like animals multiple times in different areas. I am betting the smell of fear from the hormones/pheromones whips them in a frenzy that even Ink can't control.
