Attention You Creative Types!

We're Not Dead is holding a contest to create the best Raydon Labs commercial! Now that we have a little more information on what the lab is, we're looking for a Pre-Z Day Radio ad for the mysterious Pharmaceutical Company.

Who Can Enter?
Anyone!

What do we have to do?
Well, there are two ways.

Create an audio commercial that is 30 seconds in length (that's a standard radio commercial).
Write a radio script. Make sure if you're submitting a script that it can be reasonably acted out in the 30 second time limit.

Ok...I've created it. Now what?
Now you submit them to werenotdeadpodcast@gmail.com. We will play the entries and read the scripts as they arrive.

When does the contest end?
Submissions must be received by Midnight of December 31st (New Years Eve) EST. So get those submissions in before the ball drops in Times Square!

What do I win
Why does it always have to result in winning something? Can't you just be proud that you won the contest??

There will be a yet to be ironed out prize for the winner.

Who will judge the winning submission?
The submissions will be voted on by the WA community. Once voting closes, the top 5 submissions will be judged by a special panel of WA staff (like Kc, Blaire, Grayson etc).

Can I submit more than one commercial?
No. One submission per person. This contest is long enough that you have ample brainstorming time! Give us the best that you got!

So that's it! Go out and create!

Of course, this won't work in an audio commercial, but I'll add it here in case it might generate a spark for someone...

Say hello to the new spokesman for Raydon Labs....

Added a few more call outs. \o/lo/

If someone who knows sound-stuff editing, this actually works pretty well in my mind. But, I bet the background would screw it up waaaay too much...

Question: Is the 30 second time limit set in stone? Would a 40 second commercial disqualify a entry? or even a 31.5 second commercial?

5-10 seconds is a game changer when really trying to nail a line or two without it sounding rushed.
The script i have is written for 30 seconds but sounds much better paced to 38 seconds. If it the time limit is a hard 30 seconds we have some editing to do, if not we can start moving to the recording stage.

Hard 30 seconds for produced material.

If you are offering a written script we will judge because the writer's ideal of "reasonably acted out" vs. Britt and my reasonably acted out could be different. Even then, I don't want to exceed 33 seconds on that performance. If it ends up going over 34 it's definitely out.

We will do our reasonable best jobs to record the performances we have to act out a couple times and we'll take the best one.

I am still adding some time stamps. I do not think I have the talent to edit the audio, but if Nik and Brit want to perform it, it would read something like this. Might be best if they read the name of the character so the Audiance

I hate myself for not getting around to this.

The slogan I came up with was.
"Raydon Labs, bringing you tomorrow's solutions, Today"

That was the only certainty I had come up with. Thought about having a "scholarship winner" do the commercial talking about winning it (nurse Britt, lol).

I believe you need to change the name from "We're not dead" to "Are we Alive?"

Makes the show more accurate. 😜

I have fuzzy memories of a podcast about a podcast... but I also understand trying to coordinate with someone on the other side of the country can be difficult under the best of circumstances. It can be a labour just to find time to do laundry. Life always finds a way... to piss you off.

We should also take into consideration that Britt hates us.
