When ever I watched the BBC American channel I often have to turn on the subtitles even though English is my native language. Does anyone else have trouble understanding other native speakers of their own language?

Yeah, I sometimes have to turn on Close Caption subtitles to follow Doctor Who. Old Benny Hill episodes? Forget it, I can only get the sight gags.
