View Full Version : We're Alive Series Finale

Wow, a little soon, right? Well, sorta. Just so there's no surprises, here's the plan for the end of the series.

There will be one last live event. We predict it to be sometime around August next year, possibly September. We'll have more info on it soon, but the point is what we have planned.

We are planning on performing the 2nd to last chapter LIVE and on stage, and then air the season finale there live to the attendees. The online finale will follow two or three days after.

We'll figure out what to do with the forum and spoilers and such, perhaps lock down certain posts or whatnot... we'll figure it out before then. Perhaps have one thread open for the season finale talks and only allow posts after the airing online.

Some people might not find it fair to not air the season finale live online and in the theater there, but we are hoping to push and promote the event as this will most likely be our last time together as a cast and crew.

Why tell you now? Well, so you're not surprised when it happens, and also so if you want to come you can plan accordingly if you want to come. The cost of the normal admission I believe will be $25, and will include the show and after-party. There's still a lot more info and time to follow, so things can change.

In the meanwhile, you (the people of the forum), are the first to know.

Take care and I'll be back more often as the new season starts soon. Inside scoop: Chapter 37 is written and in draft #2. That is all for now :)

Update: As of right now, the series finale event is set on: <del>July 19, 2014.</del>

UPDATE 2: Polling everyone to see if the <del>12th would be better to avoid SDCC.</del>

Update 3: Comic con starts on the 24th, so the 19th is open, but the 12th may be our target date still. For people wanting to do the 19th, we might put up a poll.
UPDATE 4:

ARE YOU COMING?! We need to know on our web poll: http://www.zombiepodcast.com/news/were-alive-live-event-coming-the-series-finale/

I recommend doing the season finale live in Vegas! If you could do it the second weekend in October That would be great.

Geez...its great to hear news but already talking about THE finale just made me kinda sad... It must be so awesome for you guys to have gone, and are going through the experiences of producing this I'm sure you'll have so many fond memories that will last a lifetime. I've had a great time listening and being a tiny part of the forum and it's been great. I'm so looking forward to where these characters go but it's saddening knowing that it's coming to an end. Thanks KC and crew!

Slightly off-topic, but after the finale KC would you at some point be happy to have a discussion about the politics and general themes of WA? Being a thinking man and an army man and creating this great story, I'm just wondering what your overarching ideas/perspectives are behind this.

OT: bloody unlikely I can go from Sydney to LA (lest I recreate Lost!) but this sounds like an excellent event for all the Americans involved =).

Am I the only one who can hear the song "Convoy" running through his head? What we need is a cross-country, zombie-focused, "We're Alive" road trip. Start in New York City, end in Los Angeles, hitting all the historic zombie hot zones along the way. I can see checkpoints in Pittsburgh, Boulder, Fort Irwin.

While you're in Southern California it might be fun to see Fort Irwin. The base now has public tours available, called "In the Box Tours", so that the public can watch military units going through training. It's too early to know about tour dates for next July, but you can find more information at http://www.irwin.army.mil/Visitors/Pages/TheNTCBoxTours.aspx

Maybe we can coordinate a group tour. Think they'll take us to the nuclear bomb crater?

There isn't a graphic novel in the words, but an actual small novel. That's had some delays recently and will take a back seat while I am working on Season 4. It'll be done eventually, but it's a slow process.

So, a little more then a year as of now ... That makes me sad for a bit knowing that there will be an end. But, alas, what other story does not provide this kind of fate after all?
Up until now WA was awesome; and I have no reason to believe or think this would change for the next 12 months.
Too bad I live in Krautania (Germany); else I would seriously consider getting a ticket for the season finale event ... But it is, as it is, right?
I wish you well on this date and hope you enjoy all the partying before and especially after the event. And if you happen to visit Fort Irwin, enjoy that place as well ... Seriously? There is a nuclear bombing crater at Irwin? Or was this a reference to what happened there on the show most recently???

Best wishes!

I think I can see how this live event will play out ...

The series finale will reveal that the man in the pinstripe suit is actually an audio drama producer who wanted to bring his zombie-universe to life. The doors will lock and KC is going to break out his home-made tattoo gun and zombifying ink. That's why there's a delay between the live finale and the on-line release. Because by then it will be too late for anyone to stop him.

The series has a set number of events that have to happen for the ending to occur. Each episode in some way contributes to the end, whether that is plot or character development. No reason to add fluff or to draw it out longer than necessary.

clem131
Aug 27th, 2013, 02:57 PM
In that case September would be better, many people might be on holidays in August; but having the last episodes during mid summer might mean many people would miss the last or second to last chapter because of summer holidays, so I don't know, it seems to me that it would be better if it ended before too late during summer.

Would love to make it to this.. But I am on the East Coast. I am not sure the wife would support my trip since she is not into the Zombie thing like me. I have tried to get her to listen to the pod cast. If I am successful in that, then maybe, just maybe..
Regardless. I will be there in spirit cheering you guys on.. Now once the West Coast is tied up. You can come to the East Coast to start a new Chapter and Adventure with new Characters and events.. Unless LA is Unique and events did not unfold like they did there elsewhere. Maybe the rest of us just had the standard run of the mill Zombie Apocalypse. I do hope you do more work in the WA Universe. More back stories and spinoffs to other survivor camps in small Novels or Like some one mentioned, maybe graphic novels.

Hanniekuma
Sep 25th, 2013, 07:40 PM
I totally agree with Merlin....I don't even want WA to end. I want spinoffs...WA the Musical. I don't care. Just don't END. Unfortunately , I can't make it either since my hubs isn't into zombies or horror or sci fi or ANYTHING cool. Unless there's a zday story about Hockey players that go around killing the undead with their hockey sticks and skates....while cruising around on old school BMXs. BUT...maybe there is hope and I can persuade him in the next few months. Maybe they'll be some BMX thing going on at the same time and we can do our own thing....I can only hope.

I'm also on the East coast, was in LA the end of June. I'm going to make it out there for the date! Screw it right, who cares how far away it is. It's the FINALE! That means the end, duh, like I'd miss that! Everyone has about 10 months to raise money to get there. Car washes, bake sales, lemonade stands you name it. Also what spouse or significant other wouldn't want to go to California. This may be a crazy idea but what if everyone who wanted to go brought along their spouses/significant others and had them do something else (as a group) while we enjoyed the Finale??? There's tons of things to do in LA. Done rant :)

KC,
Have you all considered doing the finale in conjunction with SDCC? I know you cannot officially be part of the SDCC, but what about booking a larger venue? Who knows how many fans might be attending from all over? I think that would really be the proper sendoff for such a great enterprise. It at least bears some looking into. Sandiego would be a great venue.

hellz yeah! I'm in! I'm iiiiiiiiin!!!!!!

It would be great to have spin offs and such. It has been a great series so far. I just got into it after this latest episode. It would be epic if you wrote it happening over this way in places like Columbus or Mansfield Ohio. We would love such a great story written over here since it's usually in places like California.

I once suggested tha we should all submit our own fan-written survival stories based in the locations where we all live. It would be a great way to fill in the time after WA ends while we wait for the next eagerly anticipated Wayland Productions project :)

Ain't it always?
Mr. KC, I figure I should ask this before hand, that way I do not butcher your story. Are the bigger zombies and such out here on the East Coast of USA? In place like Ohio, or do we just have the regs?

If the bigger ones do exist outside of LA and even the greater US vicinity, I'll have to invest in better upgrades for my Zombie-fort...
