Average Range: Handheld Unit is 1 to 1.5 miles, but repeaters make it nearly unlimited
Fixed Radio Repeaters are typically mounted on top of tall buildings, mounted on cellphone towers.
Portable Radio Repeaters are mounted in Police cars and emergency vehicles.
Police Radios can be operated with active encryption and on side bands to make it difficult for others to monitor.
