Chapter 34, Part 1 - Colonel Kimmet tells Michael that there is are B83 nuclear bombs in both Boulder and Fort Irwin set up to be remotely detonated as a "failsafe" in the event that either site should fall to the zombies.
Chapter 34, Part 2 - Boulder is evacuated and the nuclear bomb is detonated. Details on the bomb's impact can be found at http://www.zombiepodcast.com/forum/showthread.php?3703-We-re-Alive-100!!!!!-AKA-Chapter-34-2-It-Only-Takes-One&p=48717#post48717
Chapter 36 - Fort Irwin is over-run by Little Ones and the nuclear bomb there is detonated.

The Federation of American Scientists provide the following description of the effects of a nuclear blast at this link:

The Nuclear Darkness website has a tool that allows you to simulate the blast effects of a nuclear bomb on a specific location. Pick a target location, pick a blast yield (1,200 kt for a B83) and see how it plots out on Google Maps.

SPOILER WARNING: I ran a simulation to see what the radioactive fallout from both nukes (the ones in Irwin and Boulder) would be if both were detonated. Here is the results:
