Castlevania is one of the oldest game series still going today. For those who don't know about it, it's a game about a family clan destined to destroy Dracula whenever he is resurrected either every 100 years or sooner by humans.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is a reboot of the series. It describes the origins of Dracula and follows the story of a man named Gabriel Belmont. The story begins with 3 powerful humans who fought evil and founded an "Order of Brotherhood" that serves to defend humanity. The three humans were ascended to heaven in the end. They left behind a shadow, the evil parts of themselves and became the Lords of Shadow. The lords of shadow shut off Earth from the Heavens. To reestablish the connection, and potentially resurrect his murdered wife, Gabriel sets out to collect the 3 parts of the "God mask" which is God's power on earth.

This reboot is almost exactly like the reboot of the recent Batman movies. If you could imagine this first game as "Dracula Begins". It has an amazing story, fantastic characters (though Gabriel is pretty much the only front and center character), great voice acting, and a tremendous musical score. I COMPLETELY recommend this game to everyone. The ending literally made my jaw drop and shed man tears. It was fantastic. They're making two more games, one for the 3DS and the other for Xbox 360 and PS3. The second game for Xbox and PS3 will be the conclusion.

I love castlevania, but it was starting to turn into an anime fest. Nothing wrong with anime, I just don't like it in a western/central european setting. This game was created by a Spanish developer and has an award winning score. Check out my favorite pieces of music below, the first two are remakes of songs created for other castlevania games.

P.S. this game is a few years old, so most gamers should have at least heard of it by now.
