This is what I have to say about this debate.
Though as for my actual decision: which ever one I want more at the time. I've had crravings for both.

I literally started laughing as I read this. Although I have to side with the cat, I like pancakes! Unless my school makes them, then I go waffles....

And it makes me hungry... Who wants to bring me pancakes or waffles?! Payment will be a hug and eternal gratitude, I am a broke college student after all...

This depends mostly on the quality of each option. I have had excellent waffles, but given a choice between a well-made waffle and a well-made pancake, I would have the pancake. Also, I agree with yarri on the real maple syrup. Other kinds of syrup are very unappealing.

Waffles! Case Closed!
That's like asking what's better cake or pie... if anyone says "cake" I'm gonna punch then in the baby maker

Is it bad then that I support both pancakes and Cake?

Pancakes over waffles, I can understand. Cake over pie... I am still trying to comprehend.... I didn't know it was possible...

Pie is just some extremely sweet gooey substance surrounded by cardboard, you can't even talk about whipped cream.
Cake over pie is so easy that even a monkey neurally enhanced by a prototypical Alzheimer's cure could enjoy it.

How many times have you heard this at work "What're we going to do with all this cake?!?" with the end result being that you throw away the cake.
Never in the course of human history has anyone ever uttered the phrase "What're we going to do with all this pie?"
The only reason cake is even around is because it has an uncanny ability to hold candles and provides a flat surface where you can write "Happy B-Day Sue from accounting!"

The fact that there is "ice cream cake" only proves my point that cake is inferior to pie. To make cake better they have to keep jamming shit into it. They add fruit (making it more like a pie) and they add ice cream (honestly it's ice cream in the shape of a cake with a little bit of cake added.)

Back to topic though, when I was in Iraq there was a FOB (Spiecher I think) that had deep fried waffles. That's right they took a waffle batter dipped and deep fried it then sprinkled it with powder sugar. Frickin' heaven!

I'm still going for both. I had pancakes in a roadside place on the way to the gorge in Seattle (to see Page and Plant, must have been '98) . Eggs, butter, maple syrup, bacon, fresh coffee. It was fantastic.
In New York several years later I had the same but this time waffles. It was fantastic.
Not to muddy the waters here, but I also had a version of French Toast in New York, which seemed more like a dessert than it should have been, all covered in icing sugar.

How about a waffle wrap in a pancake place in a pie baked inside a cake. yummy. honestly thought, waffle over pancake & pie over cake, in other words anything with the word CAKE is inferior.

That's like the effing Turducken of bake goods and I'm totally down for trying it! And my vote is waffles rock the pants off of pancakes. Sorry pancakes.

Hay, where's the poll?
I'm for Waffles, cause you can totally mix them with different things ie. waffle cones. Try making a pancake ice cream cone.

My favorite is belgium waffles.. Yum.. You make the batter the night before and let it sit until morning. Then in the morning, nice, yummy belgium waffles. Another type of waffle I just learned of that I want to make/try. You take Pillsbury cinnamon rolls and put them in the waffle iron and cook them. Sounds really yummy too. Waffles. Yum.
