The Philly Con has been a good time. I went with Nate Eeez for the second year. Zombie stuff EVERYWHERE! We told people about We're Alive.

So I VIP'ed for deadite killer king, Bruce Campbell at this year's Con. It was a fun, but an exhausting experience as you have to go to different areas of the con at different times. He is a really groovy guy, with a side of snarkiness and wit. He was gracious to his fans, dressed to kill with a butterfly collar in black & white, heckled his own panel crowd, talked alot about zombies & EvilDead/AoD (also Xena/Herc/Superman/Brisco/Jack/BurnNotice), knighted a cosplay person dressed as Ash with a lightsaber and called me "Retrospective Jersey Girl" all three times I met him cause I had a King Ash tee on and a Sam Axe hawaiian shirt on top to show my life long love of his craft. I have some pics of him at his panel and other geeky stuff in my picture album. Enjoy!
Also, while standing in line with other Bruce/Zombie fans I got to tell some people about the We're Alive podcast. Nate Eeez did the same at some comic/artist booths. Hope this brings us more people to the fold!

The Five Star Trek Captains were there. Only two worth mentioning, really.

Gumby showed up, too. If you were wondering why he hasn't been seen lately, you have your answer here. Though, makes me wonder where Pokie is.

If a little round ball of clay can't escape the Zombie Apacolypse, then what chance does humanity have?

I love this pic of Bruce Campbell. He's so animated. Also the big guy in the other one is Peter Mayhew, AKA Chewbacca, being interviewed by Clare Kramer, AKA Glory from Buffy!

I spoke with some independent artists trying to break onto the comic scene. I'm a big supporter of those attempting to live the dream. I, too, dream and am about to wake the fuck up and make some shit happen. But I digress.
Chris and Mike at www.wyrlwynd.com have launched their fantasy/sci-fi project Kantara. It is their spin on wizards and dragon lure. A good basis for a series. Excellent first issue.
Gordon and Michelle Hurley at www.twistedtreecomics.com have launched three titles. I opted for Hunger, Gordon's zombie-based story. The great thing about this first issue is that it develops the main character well. I like it when you can get to see a character in their everyday life because it allows the reader to feel for the character. You know what's important to him and what he has to lose when all hell breaks loose. So much happens in this 32 page issue that I'm excited to see what happens next.
I encourage anybody reading this to check out these two new creators/publishers in the world of independent comics. I love a good Batman story arc, but the big boys have had their turn. Let's give the little guys more than a glance. If anybody doubts self-publishing, I urge them to check out Bone by Jeff Smith. Though, I'm sure any serious comic book reader knows about Bone. I'd known about Bone since the '90s, but didn't give it a read until last year. I was sorry I waited so long. I now own the collection.
