i like the dedication to the show, breaking out props, awesome. i do think you may have carried it on a bit past the joke but...

seriously, congrats. you see people coming out with all these wild and crazy ways to propose (the movie theater proposal comes to mind, cool, but a bit over the top for me) sometimes it's not the show or fanfare, but just the way you say it. gotta say, improv is a great way to put it out there.
