Mallers and the arena

I was relistening to all of the pod casts and I heard something that made me think that the mallers knew about the hive at the arena. Very early. In 6-3, there is a quote from scratch while "questioning" the radio guy about the tanker. "he had plans for those trucks" 3:55-3:59. So were they planning on blowing the hive up that early? But why wait so long? Thoughts?

But yeah, certainly seems like they knew all about it long before our heroes did.

there were more than enough tankers lying around, they weren't going to miss that one, no matter how much of a stink scratch made. plus, that was a diesel tanker and diesel doesn't blow up like gasoline.
