We're Not Dead NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Hey guys!

We’re Not Dead is up for a Parsec award. Specifically, we’re up for Best Speculative Fiction Fan or News Podcast.

It’s very fitting, after all we are a podcast about a podcast.

Okay, so what Greg and I need to do is submit up to three segments of our finest We’re Not Dead moments. Our submission cannot exceed 10 minutes in length. I’m thinking a clip from an actor/actress interview, and two clips from a story summary. Or maybe we can throw in a listener mail segment?

What do you guys think? Any suggestions? Can you think of a part from a previous podcast we should submit?

Kc has kindly reminded me that this is due TOMORROW BY MIDNIGHT, so I neeeed to get the ball rolling. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

not to blown my own horn, but since the category is speculative fiction/news podcast, I'd say one of the clips you should pick should be ra1th and I disagreeing about the Saul Tampering with the vehicles prediction from the last podcast. That got all three of us involved and a lot of good speculation (and debate) came from that. Not to mention it's only about 2.5 minutes from start to finish, so you'd still have 7.5 minutes to use on other things (like maybe part of the fan fiction performance, and interview with Elisa, or Kevin. I'd shy away from Jim's interview because wasn't Greg's mic still jacked up for that?)

Right. As much as I'd love to use the interview with Jim, there was that issue with the mic, not to mention that podcast wasn't edited at all. HMMMM. Thanks for your input!

I'd personally be careful with the Kalani/Rocket Power porn and Hope blind joke stuff....you never know who's going to be judging the competition and you don't want to lose or be written off right away because you offended them. These things are funny to most of the listeners because we have them and understand them in context. These are potentially somewhat offensive things if taken out of context.

That's why you don't see something really off putting when you see those movie clips on late night TV shows. They are trying to appeal to a wider audience. Monster's Ball wasn't advertised with Bill Bob Thorton doing Halle Berry on the couch while she cried. They sorta....let that one go for a little while before that scene saw the light of day on television.

That's why I was suggesting the three wide facets of the podcast naturally covers: the analytical, the amusing fan fic they read, and the interviews.

Suggestion 1:
Episode 12 - 9:55 - Greg saying he might suggest under age drinking, then says "boobs", then you all go into a looking back discussion of Episode 1 after listening to 20 episodes. Talks about how far the podcast has come. Brit, Greg, and Nik all give their opinion. There is still some speculation about the story set up and progression so far.

Edit: if you want to be more serious like Nik just suggested, try 10:25 or something when you get into the episode discussion.

Id say the best episode is episode 16. Specifically the time from (17:45 - 18:10) / (22:35 - 23:00) and by far the best (36:05 - 37:25). All extremely funny parts, but with these you would need to of listened to We're Alive.

Parts of the episode discussion for Episode 16 are good because there are times when Britt, Ra1th and Greg all take part. 7:14 - 9:22 ish.
Episode 15 Nik, Greg and Britt discussing Burt 5:30 - 8:13.

Episode 5 - interview with kevin Flood 3:58-5:56 is two really concise minutes of speculative discussion on his Kalani character and the character archetype in the zombie genre. "Everyone is zombie bait"
Just to set it apart from speculative episode or theory discussion and I think Kevin is really well spoken, the audio quality is good and there is a nice back and forth between the three of you
Alternatively, at 34:25 is the speculation of what circumstances will lead to Kalani's death and why he's not gonna make it

In addition, you should include the introduction of episode 10 at the 1:00 mark is really good
and some theory discussion in WND Episode 7 at 24:18 on the fact that the dogs can't turn and the nature of the outbreak (maybe cut out the bit on KC recording in his pajamas)

Yeah, I think those are all good parts that show WND at its finest
