View Full Version : Zombies aren't "cool" anymore....? Cause of Thumb Scanners?

Just saw an online commercial where thay compared 3 cars (a Ford, Toyota, and Honda I think?) to see which is best in a Zombie attack.

Yes it was funny, but it means the soulless, maneating corporate suits have finally discovered our beloved soulless, maneating walking cadavers and have begun to exploit them to sell cars....

What makes it even worse, the car that won uses a thumb-scanner to unlock the door; I can tell you from personal experience that a 'biometric' thumb-scanner is the WORST idea any brain has ever thought of in the history of Conscious Thought since the Big Bang of the PREVIOUS Universe.
NOTHING slows down a simple routine task more than a thumb-scanner; we used these 'brilliant' inventions on our registers at a job a few years ago- instead of typing a password (which takes less than one second) we had to scan our thumbs up to TWENTY SEVEN TIMES (I counted) just to get it to register: each attempt took 3-7 seconds which means we wasted a full 81-189 seconds EACH TIME we needed to ring in a customer(!)

But of course the marketing gurus have convinced the 'suits' that thumb-scanners are The Next Big Thing And The Greatest Invention Ever (koff koff- Segway?) The LAST thing you want on your car door when a Zombie attacks is a thumbprint entry-system; the Z will have time to say "I'm coming to get you Barbara" about 15-20 times before ripping your skull off!

Yes, this is horrible in many ways. Thanks for sharing. I'm curious to see this commercial now, though.

You know, I have always hated the thumb scanners. While I was working at Buffalo Wild Wings we had them, but I was working some freelance theater jobs. I did a job which ended up giving myself a major blister on my thumb and it altered my finger print to the point I couldn't clock into work. and they couldn't change it so I could go back to the password, or even switch the thumb print because it had to be the right thumb......*SIGH*

Being on the ass end of gen x I'm now very used to commercials using things that I hold near and dear in an attempt to target me and my wallet. It sucks, but you get used to it.

Here's one for a Corolla!

Thanks for sharing Mascaria. Not as bad as I thought. But you're right, it's part of that cultural blend from gen x to gen y. Gotta appeal to "younger, cooler audiences."
