I've already chopped it up to fit my horribly sub par monitors.

How often will this map be updated? I'm sure we're not going to go 2+ seasons w/o adding a few new items to it.

So the Colony was truly that far away from the Tower, and the Waterworks were that close. Its definitely interesting to have some go to point when talking about different locations within the story.

This is now my wallpaper on my laptop. I wonder what Kelly and Tommy's story is before meeting the others at the tower. It was a while before the tower got the sign up. Just a little thought scratching at my brain. Probably just surviving and finding shelter and then they saw the sign.

Why is Tommy's house on the map?

I asked the same question over in Crowbar's thread about the Map. It's interesting that his house made it on there.

Proximity reasons. Nothing more.

I thought that might be it, but it never hurts to ask the question :)

Unless you're Bixby and there's a shovel near by...it might hurt then.

I re-listened to the data given in #11 & #12 (ch3, pt2-3) and the map that KC gave us, and made a quick heat map of how the infection spread.

Check it.

I posted a google maps of the we're alive locations to the wiki, as well as the heatmap.

Here's the awesome google map for you. (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?vps=7&jsv=323a&ie=UTF8&hl=en&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=205839747454025781335.00049eca4f8a839e63fc3)

Seeing the map was one thing. Seeing it through Google Maps gives you a real scope about how wide-spread the guys have traveled.

That's great j0be. Thanks for that!

By the way, I updated the location for The Arena.
The Pasadena Ice Skating Center is the only real option there, and it matches the location on Kc's map.

I also updated the mallers mall. 90% sure about that one.

Thanks. That was the reason that I left it to public edit.

I just noticed something because I have the map now. I did directions from the Tower to the Colony. I could get it in 21 miles. (which isn't as the crow flies). The colony said they could reach 40 miles, so theoretically, if they had it pointed in the right direction, it could have easily made it.

Interesting. Didn't realize that Camp Pendleton was that close to the Tower. Wonder if we will run into any Marines later on in the story? You'd think the active-duty base for the 1st Marine division would have been pretty well defended.

The map certainly adds perspective, but it also brings out more questions.

You have any idea where Bill Roberts was sentenced and being transported from. Where the court house may have been. Just curious because you put in the mental home. I'm just trying to play on a theory that's been put out there.

And Raydon Labs, what Burt mentions in Chapter 3-3. Possible location of Laragen Inc. Its about in the right spot for the outbreak, and its a genetics lab. Possibility?

I need to know where Chimp Island is...

j0be
Mar 30th, 2011, 07:10 AM
They really didn't mention many specifics about Bill Roberts in the news report.
I'm guessing Raydon Labs doesn't have a real life equivalent. Also, that's really the extent of what we know about Raydon Labs. (its name).

The mental home was placed because Saul mentions that the mental hospital is ~10 miles from the base. Raydon Labs has absolutely no defining features. Some places just don't exist in real life.

For example there are no flower shops west of the 710 on Bandini Blvd.

I just hope that I'm not over thinking Raydon Labs as anything important to the story. I mean it would make perfect sense to me for the virus to be created in a Lab but it maybe be a little too cliche for We're Alive to fall back on. I suppose this was not anything useful but I wanted to at least post my doubt after pushing the Raydon Lab theory so hard elsewhere.

Other than that, that's a pretty good map and I wonder where the hospital district is? I mean where Riley said she and others were being stalked at.

I Find It A Little Weird How They Talked About How Long Of A Drive It Is From The Tower To The Army Base, But Never Complained About Going To The Fueling Depot, When That Is Even Further Away.

Distance isn't the big issue in L.A. right now. The big issue is congestion of the streets. It might be more congested en route to the Army Base than it is to the fuel depot.

Or you're right, and it could be a incongruity in the story.

I Didn't Realy Think About That (The Congestion Of The Streets Making The Trip Longer)... But The Last Time They Were At The Base Was In Chapter 1, Before The Streets Were Blocked With Cars.

I don't know about the inner city, but I would think as you got farther out until you hit more of the outskirts, the congestion would be worse with people trying to leave.

Don't forget about the Google Maps version (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?vps=7&jsv=323a&ie=UTF8&hl=en&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=205839747454025781335.00049eca4f8a839e63fc3).

That one is fan-maintained, and includes the real-life equivalents of some locations.
Also, if a new location appears on the show (and there are enough clues to figure out where it actually is) we add those too.

The map is a representation of what we know as of this moment. I'm pretty sure they'll sell an updated one when we're further along the storyline.

At the end of Season 2 we'll be half way there!

Whelp, if any of you noticed, because I left the collaboration as "open" on my interactive WA map (http://bit.ly/eo13wK), someone went in and moved everything around. Luckily I was able to return it to its previous state. I now have collaboration turned off on it, but if any of you want to help, just let me know.
